Widener University’s Office of Advancement seeks an Associate Director of Alumni Engagement for the Delaware Law School. Reporting into the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement, this position will be primarily located on the Delaware Law campus and will require work on the Chester campus to support University-wide Alumni programming.  This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.

The Associate Director will build lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with Alumni to inspire pride and philanthropic support with the goal of advancing the strategic priorities of Widener’s Delaware Law School.  To achieve this goal, the role will develop alumni engagement programs, volunteer opportunities and experiences for the more than thirteen thousand Delaware Law alumni.

Essential duties:

  • Serve as principal liaison between the Delaware Law School alumni association representatives and the Delaware Law School.
  • Work with and directs the Alumni Association BOD activity to determine AA policies, strategy, and assist in alumni outreach activity.
  • Cultivate and develop alumni volunteer opportunities, and develop programs and services for alumni in concert with Law School and University strategic priorities.
  • Build campus partnerships with strategic Law School entities including:  Admissions, Career Design and Development, Student Success, to pinpoint alumni volunteer opportunities and programmatic collaboration.
  • Develop and maintain a consistent communication plan to keep alumni informed about Law School priorities, achievements, and foster engagement.
  • Oversee the planning, coordination, management, and creativity of Law School alumni events.
  • Conduct discovery visits to identify enthusiastic alumni interested in supporting the University as volunteers and/or donors.

Secondary responsibilities:

  • Project work and other duties as assigned to contribute to the success of Widener’s alumni engagement efforts.
  • Attend/support University Advancement meetings and events.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required and a minimum of 3 years of directly related experience within higher education, alumni engagement, program development, and/or volunteer management. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Strong project management skills and ability to implement new processes and strategies
  • Strong commitment to customer service
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to a car

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset with proven execution
  • Full-cycle volunteer management experience
  • Experience in a data-driven environment
  • Experience in Higher Education
  • Experience using Raiser’s Edge software

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Hours: 

  • Ability and willingness to travel to ensure successful volunteer activities, cultivation
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends required.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time at campus events, presentations or other related events
