Senior Associate Director, Direct Marketing

The University of Virginia seeks a Senior Associate Director, Direct Marketing to guide the development and execution of multi-channel fundraising strategies for the University of Virginia and Advancement community schools and programs, through partnerships and the management of four project managers. Reporting to the Director, Direct Marketing in University Annual Giving, the Senior Associate Director is both a strategic leader and hands-on manager of day-to-day activities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in meeting revenue and donor goals, and experience with marketing platforms and CRM systems, with a preference for Salesforce.       

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of two Assistant Directors and two Associate Directors who are responsible for project managing 350+ appeals in a FY
  • Coach project managers to develop effective, long-term relationships with over 20 school and unit partners
  • Recommend partner goals, track progress, and analyze trends using a data-informed approach
  • Train project managers to review and analyze results of appeals, using the findings to help improve strategies moving forward to increase year-over-year revenue and donors
  • Develop project management processes to ensure that all appeals – including mail, e-mail, text, social media, and online giving pages – are reviewed before being deployed
  • In collaboration with the Director, develop and implement new programs to increase donor participation and loyalty
  • Participate in the Annual Giving Community of Practice, Office of Engagement, and University Advancement meetings, events, and programs as needed 
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • Five years of experience in annual giving, communications, marketing, or a related field 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to manage projects independently or as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, analyze data, and implement fundraising plans
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships
  • Experience with fundraising databases and marketing platforms

This position may work from anywhere, with the expectation of being in Charlottesville a minimum of four times a year at UVA’s expense. The salary range is $78,000-$86,000 and is commensurate with education and experience. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment.
