The Assistant Director, reporting to the Director of Parent Development, and working in collaboration with the Associate Director, develops communications marketing strategies for Parent Fund appeals and engagement programs. The Assistant Director is responsible for parent development event management, on and off campus; and manages a committee of outreach volunteers. The assistant director is responsible for a parent portfolio for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of annual fund gifts, impacting parent participation and leadership annual support. The Assistant Director also provides data analysis and works in collaboration with the full development team and OAR to optimize a cohesive parent giving and engagement strategy and programs to meet dollar and participation goals, while strengthening community among all PA parents.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Working with the Associate Director and Advancement Communications team, develops the annual marketing and communications strategy, manages the production and distribution of annual fund solicitations and mailings. Partners with the Associate Director and Annual Giving to strategize, set plans, and implement PA Giving Day for parent constituencies.
  • Partners with colleagues on the team and in the office of Office of Alumni Engagement to plan and manage successful cultivation and recognition programs which help to grow the Parent Fund and overall parent giving progress; expand a sense of connectedness for all parents with the Academy and among each other; and support the Academy’s commitment to equity and inclusion.
  • Manage the volunteer outreach and welcome receptions
  • Supports the Associate Director in the Parent Fund program’s volunteer management, Parent Fund Committee communications, assignments, and engagement programs, with the shared goal of meeting dollar and participation goals as a core priority of Knowledge & Goodness: The Andover Campaign.
  • Assists the Director in the Parent Advancement Council program including targeted engagement programs and communications.
  • Partners with major gifts, international advancement, annual giving, and outreach and educational programs to provide communications for thoughtful cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for parents, including alumni current parents.
  • Manages a portfolio of parent and grandparent prospects, in the broader New England region, for solicitation of leadership annual fund gifts.
  • Participates in all on-campus parent events and travels as needed for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship visits, meetings, and events.

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires fundraising experience broadly, volunteer management background, and proven success in a fundraising program or program with transferable skill sets and project management components. Bachelor’s degree, 3-5 years of experience working in a fast-paced institution/professional setting. Experience in nonprofit/education fundraising preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Some work during evenings and weekends is expected in order to carry out on-and-off campus engagement events and to meet parent fundraising goals.

Ability to work independently, try new ideas, and establish strong rapport among campus partners, faculty, and staff. Appreciation for the many school functions and work loads, learning from others, and a willingness to embrace collaboration, teamwork, and organization that benefit the collective goals of OAR and the Academy. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Professional and basic computer skills, database management experience, and facility to learn new systems and approaches.
