Reporting to the Director of Development, with a dotted line to Manager of the Annual Fund, the Development Associate is responsible for the stewardship of the Lycée’s donors and for designing and implementing innovative programs that engage parents and other supporters more directly with the life of the school.  The Development Associate also helps with the daily administrative tasks of the Development Department and is an active participant in ensuring that the office functions effectively and efficiently, taking special projects as needed. 
 
The Development Associate should be a self-starting, resourceful, well organized team player with the ability to work well under pressure and to demonstrate good interpersonal skills. The ability to get along with diverse personalities is a necessary skill. All employees are strongly encouraged to work towards proficiency in both French and English languages and to develop a familiarity and understanding of the Lycée’s multicultural environment.
 
Annual Salary Range: $48,000-$52,000
 
Responsibilities:

The duties outlined below are considered to be the most significant responsibilities of the Manager, Donor Relations and are essential for effective performance in this position. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Stewardship (40%)

  • Collaborate with the Director of Development, the Community Events team, and Associate Director of Annual Giving in the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospective and current donors;
  • Assist in the writing and preparation of major gifts proposals and stewardship reports; track outgoing reports in the database; and ensure proper filing;
  • Under the direction of the Annual Fund Manager acknowledge all Annual Fund gifts;
  • Acknowledge all capital, foundation and endowment gifts; and generate capital and endowment pledge reminders;
  • Maintain accurate Major Gift records, ensuring information is tracked and that Pledge Agreements, acknowledgements and reminders are sent within a timely manner;
  • Assist with phone calls and handwritten notes to meet fundraising goals at year-end;
  • Serve as project manager of Report of Giving

Events (40%)

  • Support Community Events, Alumni and Annual Fund teams, and school volunteers with Lycée’s signature fundraising event, the annual Gala, which raises over $2 million annually in support of the school, Alumni Reunion, and other events as needed;
  • Working closely with the Community Events team, plan and execute 4 – 5 major community events, including Welcome Fair, Fall Community Day, Fall Festival, Skating Party and Spring Fair and associated smaller events, such as Volunteer Thank You Cocktail/Breakfast and Pre-Gala Cocktail;
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Alumni Communities on alumni events and communications to the alumni community.
  • Represent the Lycée to donors, prospects, alumni, volunteers and other key constituents.

Prospect Research (10%)

  • Responsible for prospect research work for the department, including the preparation of profiles for individual, corporate and foundation donors, as well as new families.
  • Administrative Support (10%)
  • Participate in weekly Department meetings.
  • Complete all department purchasing requests.
  • Reconcile the department credit card on a monthly basis
  • Assist with annual audit.
  • Serve as the Development department representative on the Calendar Committee.
  • Staff the regular meetings of the Development Committee (prepare materials, take minutes, organize follow up).
  • Complete other duties as assigned and appropriate

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required and a minimum of two years of professional experience in development or a related field.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage relationships with high-level volunteers, donors and VIPs.
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced environment managing multiple demands and priorities.
  • A collaborative spirit and strong team ethic.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be detail-oriented, have strong interpersonal skills, be able to handle multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with proven ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals both in person and over the phone, via email and in written correspondence
  • Ability to problem-solve and make decisions independently; ability to collaborate with others as part of teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent command of office technology tools including Microsoft Word, Excel and database software; Raiser’s Edge experience preferred.
  • Discretion and tact in handling confidential information.
  • Commitment to the Lycée’s mission, vision and strategic direction.
  • French language fluency (verbal and written) is highly desirable.
