The University of Notre Dame is accepting applications for a Associate Director, MBA Annual Giving.  Applications will be accepted until 3/18/2016.

The Associate Director of Graduate Business Annual Giving will be responsible for the general management of the Notre Dame Graduate Business programs, John Cardinal O’Hara (JCOS ) Recognition Society and the Graduate Business Fund. This includes designing, planning, and executing fund-raising programs, marketing communications, brand management and the donor experience required to achieve the revenue and participation plans for the funds. The Associate Director will be responsible for $1.4M in discretionary revenue for the Graduate Business programs and approximately 2,500 donors to these funds. In addition, the Associate Director will be a key partner to select fundraising units to represent higher level annual giving opportunities. This partnership is a key component to maximize annual giving at Notre Dame.

Establish clear strategies, develop action plans, and set goals and priorities for the department to develop capable fundraising processes and achieve the JCOS and Graduate Business Fund revenue commitment annually. Lead the planning of JCOS donor engagement and solicitation events in partnership with the Director of Graduate Alumni Relations and the Donor Experience team. Events to include, but not limited to: Football Weekend Events, Regional JCOS engagement events, Mendoza Graduate Alumni events, Young Alumni & Student Philanthropy Activities, etc.

Develop and implement the Operating Rhythm elements required to effectively achieve the participation, revenue and other operating targets assigned JCOS and the Graduate Business Fund. Establish annual/quarterly/monthly/weekly plans that integrate key stakeholders to develop and deliver the performance necessary to meet the commitments for JCOS and the Graduate Business Fund.

This position works closely with the Dean, Associate Deans, and Directors at the Mendoza College of Business. The Associate Director will ensure that JCOS and the Graduate Business Fund operates within the development policies and guidelines set forth by the University.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The strategic requirements of this role are: definition of a 3-5 year growth plan for graduate business program fundraising, including development of an annual marketing cycle for the John Cardinal O’Hara Society, the definition of long-term donor value propositions, donor and prospect profiles based on analytics, identification of growth strategies by segment (Alumni, Parents, Friends, etc), go to market plans for both assigned (in leadership portfolios) and unassigned donors and prospect, and identification and implementation of game changing elements of the graduate Business offering and experience to achieve growth goals. In addition, represent higher levels of all Annual Giving opportunities through partnerships with field fundraising teams.

  • The Associate Director acts as Director of the Graduate Business Fund, developing and executing creative new approaches for increasing alumni participation and annual giving. He/she takes a leadership role in managing and expanding existing direct mail solicitation efforts. Plans and executes young alumni and Class Legacy efforts for MBA , EMBA , MNA , MSA , MSM , MSF , and MSBA classes. Develops and evaluates all direct mail, phone, and e-solicitations for all Graduate Business Fund campaigns. Creates all printed and web-based marketing materials. Drafts and oversees three annual Graduate Business direct mail solicitations. In addition, has a deep understanding of all annual giving opportunities and fully represents annual giving to select fundraising partners.
  • The Director collaborates with the Director of Graduate Alumni Relations in the Mendoza College of Business to recruit and manage a volunteer network comprised of leaders of various Graduate Business classes. The Director works with these class agents for significantly improving the class participation percentage and annual dollar totals given to the Graduate Business programs and the University.
  • The tactical responsibilities of this position include: development of an effective revenue and membership forecast using analytics, the establishment of a daily/weekly/monthly/yearly operating rhythm to actively track achievement of results and program activities, project leadership for campaigns and communications plans, development of marketing materials, design and implementation of events for donors. Analyzes and communicates statistical data for all Graduate Business Fund and JCOS campaigns to the development department management team, the financial officer and the Director of Graduate Alumni Relations and the Dean of the Mendoza College of Business.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 7 or more years’ experience.
  • Higher education fundraising experience and/or leadership experience, or sales leadership experience.
  • Face-to-face engagement, ask and negotiation experience.
  • Experience developing and optimizing processes for sales, fundraising, customer service, or administrative processes.
  • Excellent spoken, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Functional working knowledge of digital communications.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Proficiency in process, Six Sigma and Lean tools. Continuous improvement experience or Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification.
  • Ability to travel and oversee evening and weekend work.
  • A mature team player who is highly motivated and dedicated to the goals of advancing higher education.
  • A commitment to Catholic education and the goals and values of the University of Notre Dame are critical.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA preferred.
  • Notre Dame degree preferred.
