Job Description

The Associate Director of Annual Giving is responsible for the management and coordination of a comprehensive, strategic, and integrated effort to build Stevens’ base of annual donors. He or she will coordinate a year-round donor acquisition, cultivation, and retention program that will involve direct mail, e-mail, social media, telethons, and personal outreach. He or she is also charged with overseeing class leadership volunteers to set annual fundraising targets and orchestrate a regular and consistent peer-to-peer outreach program.

The Associate Director of Annual Giving reports to the Assistant Vice President for Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving. He or she will have regular contact with trustees, leadership-level donors, senior administrators, faculty, staff, current students, alumni leadership, and other external constituents.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Working directly with the AVP to plan, strategize, and implement programs designed to maximize annual giving (dollars and participation) to Stevens.
  • Design and craft solicitation communications including, but not limited to: print, digital, volunteer and student scripts, etc.
  • Work with colleagues within the overall Division of Development to orchestrate class fundraising efforts and increase class participation with a particular emphasis on reunion years.
  • Develop and implement strategies for growing the Athletics giving program and manage the relationship with the associated volunteer leadership and coaching staff.
  • Collaborate with the Stevens Alumni Association and other campus departments to create and maintain synergies for involving alumni in support for the Institute.
  • Assist with planning and attending relevant alumni events.
  • Manage a portfolio of leadership-level annual donors.
  • Have the ability to work evenings and weekends and to travel as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in the development and alumni engagement, preferably in a higher education setting, including a strong documented record of gift solicitation and volunteer management.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, analytic, and organizational skills, as well as display a commitment to succeed in this visible and measurable position.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and programs.
  • A demonstrated capacity to motivate others, and the ability to work effectively with other staff members and campus representatives.
  • Proficiency with development software systems and advanced experience with the Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
