Director of Annual Giving
School Overview:
The Carroll School is a dynamic independent day school for elementary and middle school students who have been diagnosed with language-based learning disabilities (LBLD), such as dyslexia.
Position Summary:
The Director of Annual Giving is responsible for planning and executing an ambitious Annual Fund program focused on increasing both dollars raised and overall participation. This is a full-time position that reports to the Director of Development.
Responsibilities:
- Create an Annual Fund operating plan that develops strategies and initiatives to increase both unrestricted dollars and overall constituent participation (parents, alumni parents, alumni, grandparents and others);
- Manage the Annual Fund leadership gift program and coordinates other staff and volunteer efforts in support of these initiatives;
- Manage a portfolio of Annual Fund prospects (50-100), with emphasis on leadership donors, including all aspects of identification, qualification, cultivation and solicitation;
- Identify and recruit Annual Fund volunteers (leadership and participation) and manage and support their efforts;
- Plan and execute the 8th Grade Parent Gift Program;
- Coordinate activity with the Database Manager to ensure accurate gift accounting and acknowledgment practices;
- Prepare reporting materials for development committee meetings, and support the Development Committee Chair by providing Board of Trustees updates;
- Manage the Annual Fund budget;
- Help to design reports and analytical tools for ongoing progress tracking;
- Work with other members of the Development team and the Director of Communications to help raise the visibility and impact of philanthropic support at Carroll School;
- Oversee the layout, production and execution of Carroll’s annual “Celebration of Philanthropy” Report to recognize the generosity of donors and volunteers;
- Collaborate with fellow Development Team members to ensure excellent donor stewardship;
- Coordinate with other development staff in support of the Annual Fund and capital campaign as part of collaborative team.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 4-8 years of fund-raising experience, preferably in an educational environment
- Demonstrated organizational and communication (written and oral) skills as well as the ability to work with and inspire volunteers and colleagues
- Ability to multi-task and juggle competing priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising databases, preferably Raiser’s Edge
- Able to exercise good judgment and handle confidential matters with discretion
