Job Summary

The Annual Giving Officer – Student and Young Alumni provides leadership in managing FIU’s student and young alumni giving campaigns. This position develops and manages a goals driven program focused on increasing philanthropic support to FIU from FIU’s student and young alumni population. The Annual Giving Officer is responsible for effectively managing volunteers who are to aid in the development of successful student and young alumni giving programs. The Annual Giving Officer also utilizes various multi-channel marketing tools to grow philanthropic support from FIU’s student and young alumni population.

  • Develop and manage a goals driven program focused on increasing philanthropy from FIU’s student and young alumni populations.
  • Create and/or identify affinity giving programs to market to student and young alumni populations. Vet and manage crowdfunding opportunities from FIU’s student organizations and groups.
  • Identify, organize, promote and maintain collaborative working relationships with key student groups, student leaders, and alumni volunteers. Develop effective collateral materials to guide and foster result driven volunteer interaction and participation.
  • Closely track and substantially improve donor retention among FIU’s student and young alumni populations.
  • Conduct visits and phone calls to secure leadership gifts from FIU’s student and young alumni populations. Create and maintain effective tools to encourage student and young alumni giving at the leadership level.
  • Leverage multi-channel marketing tools to achieve increased giving results from FIU’s student and recent graduate populations.
  • Work with the FIU Alumni Association events team to plan and produce successful events and programs specifically for undergraduates and young alumni to increase philanthropic awareness and outcomes at FIU.
  • Create a smooth transition for student volunteers to graduate into young alumni volunteer roles.
  • Closely track results across all activities and implement strategic processes to facilitate sustainable growth in donors and dollars.
  • Must handle confidential materials with appropriate discretion.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
  • Strategizes on changes and enhancements to programs to increase fundraising results and reach goals as a member of the annual giving team.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience related to community relations, not for profit, fundraising environment, and/or related organization.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with FIU Student Organizations, FIU recent graduate affinity groups.
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting, training and managing volunteers to produce measurable outcomes.
  • Experience working in higher education with students and young alumni is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully perform mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of result driven fundraising techniques.
  • Ability to interact professionally and diplomatically with alumni, volunteers, students, staff, faculty, vendors, and all internal and external partners.
  • The ideal candidate will be analytical, creative, result oriented, and must be able to effectively partner with a diverse range of internal and external partners.

Advertised Salary

$40,000 – $50,000

Must attend meetings off campus and occasionally attend functions on weekends and evening
Ability to travel locally and nationally.
