Director of Class Campaigns
The Brown University Division of Advancement seeks qualified applicants for the position of Director of Class Campaigns, a grade 12 exempt position.
The Director of Class Campaigns leads and manages the reunion giving program for Brown University which places a heavy emphasis on increasing the giving, primarily through the Brown Annual Fund, of undergraduate alumni celebrating quinquennial Reunions from the 5th through 60th. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of top prospects among Reunion alumni. He/she will also continue to develop appropriate and manageable strategies for engaging top prospects in the years leading to the next Reunion. The incumbent oversees a staff of nine, including five direct reports, and ensures consistency of approach, training, schedule, and reporting across twelve Reunion classes each year. He/she will work closely with the Executive Director and other senior managers on the Annual Giving team to communicate and collaborate with prospect managers, making Reunion giving through the Annual Fund a priority within comprehensive giving strategies. The incumbent will also jointly develop Reunion engagement and solicitation strategies with colleagues on the Alumni Relations team and personally manage a Reunion class each fiscal year.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of relevant experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Staff management experience required.
- Demonstrated successful front-line fundraising and/or volunteer management experience, preferably in a college/university environment or a major non-profit organization.
- Excellent communications skills, both oral and written. Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with both internal staff and external constituents.
- Proven ability to recruit, train, motivate and solicit a highly sophisticated donor/volunteer population.
- Self-motivation, creativity, and the ability to solve problems; ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Excellent manager of time, projects, and people. Detail-oriented and analytical, but also able to see the “big picture.” Must possess positive attitude and leadership ability.
- Commitment to and understanding of unrestricted fundraising strongly preferred.
