Director, Diocesan Engagement
The Director of Diocesan Engagement is an accomplished professional whose focus will be on building and executing programs to more meaningfully engage Catholic dioceses, organizations, and constituents across the U.S. with a goal of increasing engagement with diocesan leadership, Alumni, current and prospective students and their families, and with other supporters of Catholic University. This position will actively interact with other Catholic University groups to accomplish these goals, including the office of the University President, offices of enrollment management, offices of communications, academic schools and institutes, and the University Advancement office of Alumni Engagement.
Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with and under the direction of an AVP of Advancement, responsible for the execution of the national engagement strategy for US Bishops to encourage stronger ties, increase awareness and interest in university programming, and increasing involvement in the university by key bishop stakeholders.
- Support the offices of the University President, University Provost, Vice President of Advancement, Associate Vice President of Advancement, and the activities of the Division of Advancement to deliver impactful engagement with the U.S. Catholic Bishops in conjunction with engagement activities of university principals, including creating engagement opportunities around presidential travel.
- Develop and execute an engagement strategy for priest and religious alumni that will encourage increased engagement with the University. Partner with the Alumni team to establish an ongoing channel of engagement.
- Collaborate with the AVP to oversee the development and implementation of a strategy to grow the response to the National Collection for the Catholic University of America by 20%. Work closely with the USCCB’s national office and external diocesan representatives to ensure collection optimization preparation and follow-up.
- Collaborate with the Divisions of Admission and Enrollment on the cultivation of key diocesan relationships including parish outreach, youth ministers, and Catholic school systems, to drive admissions and enrollment goals.
- Support the development and implementation of targeted engagement strategies for key non-diocesan Catholic organizations that could help to advance the goals of the university.
- Work closely with diverse offices across the university to collaboratively envision and coordinate diocesan engagement by diverse university stakeholders.
- Support the Division of University Advancement in achieving its strategic and fundraising goals through productive interaction and collaboration with all departmental staff, University liaisons, and external constituents.
- Manage the budget and 2-4 person staff of the Office of Diocesan and Church Engagement. Conduct staff planning, hiring, ongoing supervisory activities, and performance reviews.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree required, and at least six (6) years’ experience in higher education, non-profit or similar work setting dealing with volunteer management, alumni relations, event management, fundraising, or related responsibilities. Experience in program design and management, content programming, event management, staff management, public relations and communications is desirable. Understanding of Catholic religious constituencies is highly desirable.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Google for Education, and ability to learn new software programs and functions, including donor databases and online communities,
Possession of current and valid U.S. driver’s license appropriate to the type of university vehicle and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record (MVR) as stipulated in the Vehicle Guidelines and Procedures Manual administered through the office of Environmental Health and Safety. Annual clearance of MVR check through the Office of Environmental Health and Safety
