Assistant Director of Annual Giving

Position Summary: 

As part of the Annual Giving team, the Assistant Director will support the College’s mission by increasing donor participation to the Annual Fund. The Assistant Director of Annual Giving will assist in the execution of a strategic approach to all Annual Giving programming including developing communications for internal and external groups, updating digital channels (website and giving platforms), recruiting volunteers and supporting giving societies.  

Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Support all the strategic initiatives of the Annual Giving Office, including managing various ad-hoc and affinity-based solicitation and communications projects 
  • Maintain a portfolio of approximately 50 annual giving prospects for qualification, cultivation and solicitation of annual support, with an emphasis on upgrading unrestricted annual gifts 
  • Partner with major gift officers to provide critical coordination for efforts that combine annual and leadership giving to effectively contribute to HMC’s long-term success and sustainability  
  • In collaboration with the Director, assist with cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship volunteers to make gifts to the College; recruit and train volunteers as needed (Giving Days and Reunion)  
  • Support giving society/program initiatives to systematize solicitation plans and content creation for stewardship materials 
  • With guidance from the Director, participate in the planning and execution of campaign creation for targeted segments of donors and potential donors 
  • Assists with LYBUNT and matching gift outreach efforts to create a personalized approach with the goal of increasing retention of donors and funds raised  
  • Manage online annual giving activities, including recruitment and coordination of volunteers as well as oversight of annual giving videos for stewardship (currently our ThankView platform) and solicitation when applicable 
  • Responsible for digital marketing in collaboration with the Communications and Marketing team to design emails in Marketing Cloud, update the College’s website, share updates in eNews and develop social media content. 
  • Report on and analyze metrics, including online open rates, unsubscribe rates, giving society/program results and trends, reunion fund initiatives, challenges encounters, and proposed solutions   
  • Develop reports, create and manage lists through querying and exports within the Raiser’s Edge NXT database as a power-user within the team 
  • Produce and modify (as needed) training materials and welcome guides for all Annual Giving collaborators 
  • Steward volunteers through recognition at events and follow-up opportunities relating to annual giving initiatives
  • Performs other duties as assigned 

Required Qualifications: 

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent in related work experience. 

Experience:  

One to two years of direct fundraising experience with demonstrated ability to lead others towards a common goal, or equivalent experience is required 

Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver’s license or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events is required                             

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Must be extremely detail-oriented 
  • Ability to handle all activities, especially those containing confidential information, with discretion, courtesy, and sound judgment while working with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds is required 
  • Strong computer/database skills, preferably with CRMs and spreadsheets, and an ongoing ability to learn is required 

Physical Requirements:  

While performing the duties of this job, the staff member is regularly required to sit; stand use hands and fingers and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The individual must regularly lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Hours:

The regular hours are Monday – Friday with some evenings and weekends required.  Local travel is required.  Regional travel within the U.S. may be required. Hours may vary due to the needs of the department or College. 

Classification:    

This is an exempt, full-time, benefits-eligible position. 

Salary: 

The anticipated starting salary is $64,480.00 – $72,000.00 per year.  Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.   

Reporting:                        

Reports to the Director of Annual Giving
