Director of Donor Relations
Keck Medicine of USC Advancement is seeking a Director of Donor Relations to contribute to a successful donor relations program. The position reports to the Senior Director of Donor Relations. The Director will manage the administration, implementation, and measurement of core donor stewardship efforts to provide a creative, consistent, donor-centric experience for donors at all levels. The incumbent will be an integral part of the $3B USC Campaign for Health.
Essential job duties include, but are not limited to:
- In collaboration with the Senior Director of Donor Relations, design, execute, and manage a successful donor relations program
- Manage key donor engagement programs such as first-time donor engagement, annual giving campaign follow-up, planned giving, and more
- Support stewardship of giving society donors
- Develop new programs to enhance and improve the donor experience
- Lead administrative, tracking, and reporting functions for endowed faculty donor engagement
- Contribute to comprehensive and individualized stewardship and engagement program for major and principal gift donors
- Manage donor communications including but not limited to drafting gift acknowledgments, building annual engagement communications plans, and more
- Work with advancement communications and other external relations areas in support of the production of customized stewardship publications, messaging, and content, such as annual reports, impact reports, and annual fund outreach
- Serve as an advisor to fundraisers to support their efforts to engage donors creatively, consistently, and appropriately
- Build and regularly report metrics to the senior director to assess the effectiveness of managed programs and continuously evaluate and streamline stewardship processes and reporting
- Manage reporting to donors on the use, impact, and financial management of their gifts is completed in a timely and accurate manner, consistent with gift agreements, USC standards, and best practices
- Oversee donor recognition
- Support senior leaders and key stakeholders in the design and execution of a donor relations program that addresses the unique needs of Keck Medicine of USC and its impending capital campaign.
- Partner with senior director to assess and audit current programs and needs, encouraging the adoption of innovative strategies.
- Foster key partnerships with health sciences advancement and University-wide advancement partners to ensure partnership, collaboration, efficiency, and alignment; and, serve as a liaison between Keck Medicine of USC and other USC advancement staff.
- Other duties or projects as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in donor relations and stewardship at a complex educational or medical nonprofit organization.
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant educational experience.
- Project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, including the ability to interface with the highest level of university leadership and university supporters/volunteers.
- Ability to work both independently as well as cooperatively with team members.
- Exercise a high level of integrity and honesty, and handle extremely sensitive information with confidentiality and tact.
- Demonstrate sound judgment, effective decision-making skills, and discretion (including maintaining confidentiality as required).
- Critical thinking skills and ability to problem-solve, propose solutions, and make recommendations.
- Experience with Salesforce, ThankView, Adobe creative suite, and other technology platforms

- Detail oriented with excellent written and oral communication skill.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.

- Experience in management/leadership roles.
- Volunteer experience in fundraising, campaign or non-profit environments.
- Experience with email marketing, website development/coding and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Extensive customer service experience.
- Fluent in one or more language in addition to English (e.g., Spanish).
