Assistant Director Digital Engagement

This position leads digital engagement programs as part of the Advancement Communications team reporting to the Director of Advancement Communications. The Assistant Director works with the rest of the Donor Engagement & Communications (DEC) team to engage volunteers, ambassadors, and donors digitally through peer-to-peer fundraising and outreach. This includes leading the annual giving day and crowdfunding programs along with their respective ambassador programs. The assistant director serves as a liaison to various units within Advancement and coordinates efforts with those units and the DEC team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead annual Georgia State Day (giving day) program and work with the Director to plan and execute the September event.
  • Work with campus partners to identify, develop and launch crowdfunding campaigns.
  • Audit peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns and report results to DEC Leadership.
  • Develop an annual peer-to-peer text messaging campaign strategy for Annual Giving, Donor Relations, Advancement Communications, and the Alumni Association.
  • Maintain digital engagement platforms under their purview as the primary admin and vendor contact, including ScaleFunder and ThruText.
  • Establish and maintain an annual strategy for engaging advancement volunteers who support peer-to-peer engagement efforts.
  • Coordinates engagement and solicitation of students and Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) constituency groups with appropriate staff members in the Georgia State Alumni Association.
  • Serves as a college/unit liaison on behalf of the DEC team.
  • Maintains operating plans and best practices for digital engagement programs under their position.
  • Maintains digital engagement projects in the department’s project management system.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or a related field and three years of supervisory/managerial related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of non-profit CRM software, preference for Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce.
  • Experience with fundraising and engagement software platforms and managing vendor relationships. The department currently uses ScaleFunder, ThankView, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, ThruText, among others.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills including presenting, coordinating volunteers, and content creation.
  • Understanding of and ability to keep up with best practices for annual giving, direct marketing, and strategic communications.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects at one time on an ongoing basis.
  • Comfortable working in a complex, multi-divisional, results-oriented environment. Demonstrated ability to work across teams with positive results.
  • Ability to evaluate KPIs, metrics, and regular internal and external reporting to demonstrate value of digital fundraising campaigns.
