Structure: 

The Director for Annual Giving is an exempt (salaried) position employed by the University of Cincinnati Foundation (UCF) and reports to the Executive Director, Annual Giving & Integrated Marketing.

Focus: 

The Director, Annual Giving will serve as the team’s audience development and reporting specialist, systems liaison, team lead for Crowdfunding Campaigns and will play a key role in the development and execution of our two urgency campaigns, UC Day of Giving (spring) and Giving Tuesday (fall).

Specific Duties: 

  • Audience Development – Blackbaud CRM
    • Provide thought leadership and execution in developing intentional audiences for all annual giving core campaigns.
  • Be proficient in Blackbaud CRM, including building queries, marketing effort processes, and back-end administrative approval processes.
    • Process and prepare data exports for mail/distribution of core campaigns and serve as an advisor on smaller projects.
    • Develop calling segments for Digital Philanthropy Center, as needed.
    • Develop targeted segments for Tower of Strength and select leadership annual giving direct marketing efforts.
    • Meet deadlines as determined by team leadership to ensure core campaigns are released on schedule.
  • Reporting Oversight – Tableau and Blackbaud CRM
    • Partner with UC Foundation TIPS team to create and/or refine annual giving and alumni engagement reports.
    • Analyze and present historical results to inform current and future decision-making.
    • Standardize and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports and serve as a resource for ADE leadership team and staff as they report on special projects and annual goals.
  • Systems Liaison
    • Serve as a “super user” and team lead for data platforms such as Blackbaud CRM (iCats), Tableau, Scalefunder and Fresh Service.
    • Provide Blackbaud CRM training and mentorship to other annual giving and integrated marketing team members with a goal of developing proficiency.
    • Act as a liaison with internal and external partners and vendors on various systems used in annual giving processes and reporting.
  • Lead Crowdfunding Projects
    • Work with alumni, students, friends, faculty, staff, and corporate supporters to develop crowdfunding campaigns in support of UC fundraising priorities.
    • Manage the UC.edu/impact website and become proficient in the use of all functions, including reporting and gift processing functions.
    • Work with crowdfunding project sponsors to develop a digital marketing campaign in support of each project.
    • Partner with Annual Giving Direct Marketing team to create email and social media assets for use in promoting crowdfunding campaigns.
    • Act as project manager for crowdfunding projects by sourcing website and email content from internal and external partners and training volunteer users.
    • Partner with UC Information Technology on website improvements, development, and testing working within a set budget.
  • Contribute to the Planning and Execution of Two Annual Urgency Campaigns
  • Serve on the core planning committee for UC Day of Giving (spring) and Giving Tuesday (fall) with leadership responsibilities in multiple areas.
  • Provide audience development for both campaigns.
  • Oversee post-campaign reporting and other analysis.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5-7 years of experience or Master’s degree with 2-3 years of experience.
  • Experience in annual giving or in higher education/non-profit management is a plus.
  • Knowledge of databases and the ability to create queries, develop audience segments, and process mailing lists is essential to this role. Experience with Blackbaud CRM or other Blackbaud systems is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze data to develop solicitation strategies, measure outcomes and develop future strategy is essential.
  • Organizational and analytical ability and timeliness. Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities, produce quality work, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience managing relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Solid written and communication skills; proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office.
