Leadership Gift Officer and Manager of Campaign Initiatives
The Leadership Gift Officer and Manager of Campaign Initiatives will develop and implement the strategy for identifying, nurturing, soliciting, and managing major gifts and prospects in support of the college’s strategic initiatives, vision, and mission. The incumbent serves as a vital member of the Institutional Advancement staff as the college moves from the quiet to public phase of its first-ever comprehensive capital campaign. This is both a field fundraising and a leadership position, with responsibilities for the cultivation and stewardship of a growing portfolio of donors and the development and implementation of fundraising strategies that ensure the success of the college’s comprehensive campaign goals. The Leadership Gift Officer and Manager of Campaign Initiatives will also work closely with the college’s President, Board of Trustees, Cabinet, Academic Deans, and the HCC Foundation Board of Directors to ensure their fundraising involvement and success with key stakeholders.
Examples of Duties:
- Actively engages a portfolio of leadership-level prospects and donors and motivates and inspires constituents to financially support the college’s mission. Builds relationships and works closely with prospects and donors through the cycle of identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Solicits multi-year campaign commitments while achieving annual gift revenue goals.
- Works closely with the President on assigned prospects and the development of solicitation and stewardship strategies.
- Works closely with the Board of Trustees and HCC Foundation Board of Directors on individual gift strategies and philanthropic engagement.
- Manages the work of and sets priorities for the college’s campaign committee, providing counsel, education, and direction in support of comprehensive campaign success.
- Promotes the college’s fundraising priorities by developing excellent working relationships with faculty, senior academic leaders, trustees, other volunteers, and institutional advancement colleagues to ultimately advance strategic objectives and set a strong foundation for the long-term financial sustainability of the college.
- Collaborates with fellow institutional advancement colleagues to develop high-touch and mass engagement strategies to increase prospect engagement with the college and a greater culture of philanthropy.
- Develops educational opportunities and engagement strategies for the college community to become involved in the life of the comprehensive campaign and fundraising initiatives, ultimately building a stronger culture of philanthropy at HCC.
- Provides direct support to and guide the strategic initiatives of the HCC Foundation Development & Fundraising Committee of the Board of Directors. This includes preparing presentations, trainings, and support materials.
- Employs prospect management best practices to advise actions, strategies, and maximizing fundraising effectiveness.
- Travels (regionally and nationally) frequently to meet with prospects and to represent the college.
Compensation:
- Salary Range: $80,000-$85,000/year, plus a comprehensive State benefits package
- Hours: 37.5 hours

Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Master’s degree plus a minimum of 3-5 years of progressive and successful fundraising experience, with preference for candidates who have experience fundraising during comprehensive campaigns; or an equivalency statement demonstrating commensurate experience and skills.
- Stellar relationship-building skills and ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders around innovative ideas and programs.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including demonstrated writing and editing skills in the preparation of proposals, and in the drafting of related correspondence, often for the signature of institutional leaders.
- Excellent time management and follow-up skills and ability to work well under deadline and to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated practical application and experience with technology such as database functions/reports, Microsoft Word and Excel, internet/email usage, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and motivate volunteers.
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment required.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Strong knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, including strategies for donor identification, campaign planning, cultivation and solicitation.

- Passion for higher education and the community college mission.
- Strong working knowledge of key gift vehicles used to create legacy commitments.
- Familiarity with the range of non-cash assets used to create deferred and current-use gifts
- Demonstrated experience utilizing donor management systems for moves management, preferably Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge software.
