Assistant Director, International Alumni Networks
The Assistant Director for International Alumni Networks works with the Director for Alumni Networks, and collaborates with alumni volunteers and leaders to foster engagement for alumni in East Asia, Southeast Asia and Oceania. This position will build and maintain sustainable relationships with volunteer leaders and regional alumni committees including planning and executing of signature annual program, Asian Alumni Business Forum/Festival. The Assistant Director travels throughout the region or country. The position will work with Alumni Relations, Annual Giving, and the Global Leadership team to support their respective missions to identify donors and engage alumni philanthropically.
Responsibilities:
- Engage alumni through meaningful programs, services, and communication to increase their connection to each other and to the University, thereby building their support for the University. Tasks include conceiving event ideas, collaborating with the alumni networks on booking space, negotiating with vendors, building registration pages, monitoring registrations, writing email invitations, developing a marketing schedule with the communication team, promoting the event via social media, preparing collaterals (speaker gifts, giveaways, BU signs for branding), writing event timelines and talking points, updating the alumni volunteer leaders leading up to the event with event guidelines and best practices, provide event follow up such as processing financial reimbursements, evaluate event outcome with alumni volunteers and analyzing of event survey.
- Maintain regular and pro-active communication with key alumni network members, and serve as a liaison for the same, while building strong relationships with associated key student groups and campus partners. Work closely with many areas within the Association, in particular Global Leadership; Online Engagement; Career Programs; Alumni Programs & Events.
- Develop strategic communication and create content for international alumni using multiple channels including print, web, email, messenger apps, and social media. Deliver relevant content and information that triggers increased awareness and interest in alumni worldwide whilst leveraging social media monitoring to assess alumni engagement with BU.
- Work closely with the regional leadership gift officers, alumni and development officers to increase alumni participation, engagement, and communication by coordinating programming and outreach like alumni events or alumni volunteer meetings to coincide with onsite visits and providing front-line information for these colleagues.
- Support other alumni relations activities such as Alumni Weekend, Commencement by staffing alumni events in Boston to advance the mission of the organization.
- Supervises work of Graduate Intern.
Required Skills:

- B.A./B.S. in communication, business, marketing or a related field.
- Three to five years of related experience in nonprofit, or constituent relations.
- The ideal person for this role is well-experienced with Asian culture and has cross-cultural experience
- In-depth knowledge of social media platforms relevant to Asia and demonstrated excellence in writing English language.
