Digital Specialist, Alum Communications
The digital specialist, alum communications at Mount Holyoke College is responsible for managing and implementing the digital component of an overall integrated strategy for alum communications and marketing. This role ensures the quality and consistency of broadcast email, social media, video and other electronic communications for the alum audience.
The digital specialist works closely with all members of the marketing and communications team and across departments throughout the College and Alumnae Association promoting content, events and services to alums. The digital specialist also works closely with the digital communications associate/manager to record and analyze engagement metrics and to develop collaborative metric-based strategies for the alum audience.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Working closely with the associate director of alum marketing & communications and the Alumnae Association’s senior associate director of marketing & communications and director of engagement, create and implement digital/online content that aligns with the Association’s and College’s strategic priorities and key messages. Draft, edit and proof content for various digital platforms to ensure consistent tone and messaging.
- Create and send alum emails, including broadcast emails, monthly newsletters, event communications and specialized class and club announcements.
- Ensure that Alumnae Association digital content is current and accurate, including content on Association website and social media channels.
- Serve as a liaison to alum volunteers for questions and problem troubleshooting for class websites as needed.
- In collaboration with the associate director of alum marketing and communications and [TBD social strategy role], support strategic social messaging plan.
- In collaboration with the digital communications associate/manager, track and report out on engagement analytics on a regular basis.
- Work as part of a team to develop content (social posts, video content, student/alum profiles) for alum channels that aligns with the Association’s and College’s mission and goals. Direct and push out content as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in marketing, communications, social media or related field.
- Proficient in email client systems such as Mailchimp, Hubspot and Anthology Encompass (formerly iModules).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or similar design software.
- Experience managing websites (WordPress, Drupal, HTML preferred).
- Exceptionally strong written communication skills; strong verbal communication skills, editing and proofreading proficiency are required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be organized, possess the ability to multi-task and meet project deadlines.
- Requires initiative, problem solving skills, and high attention to detail.
