Assistant Director of Athletics Annual Giving
Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, the Assistant Director of Athletics Annual Giving position will be an essential member of UMBC’s dynamic alumni and development team, dedicated to fostering strong ties between the University and alumni, parents and friends of the athletics program. This position works independently and in collaboration with members of the Office of Institutional Advancement and numerous campus partners, including Athletics, to identify and engage alumni and other university constituents to help grow the fundraising efforts for UMBC Athletics teams and programs.
This position is responsible for the program strategy, implementation, growth and evaluation of athletics annual giving fundraising. The Assistant Director of Athletics Annual Giving will serve as the primary liaison to the athletics department and have daily contact with Office of Institutional Advancement and Athletics colleagues including the athletics director, coaches, major gift officers and advancement services. This position also interacts daily with student-athletes, alumni, parents and friends.
This person will coordinate the development of external marketing materials including letters, brochures, digital advertisements, web and social media content and other materials needed to promote athletics giving. The Assistant Director of Athletics Annual Giving will develop and implement an athletics giving club to cultivate, solicit and steward athletics donors and carry a portfolio of approximately 50-75 alumni, parents and friends for athletics leadership-level gifts of $1,000+ annually.
The Assistant Director of Athletics Annual Giving will work to increase student-athlete education and engagement around athletics fundraising to build a philanthropic culture and is responsible for the recruitment of volunteers (particularly athletics alumni) to assist with athletics fundraising strategy. This person will attend select home and away sporting events to cultivate donors and prospects and provide on-site event support for the annual golf tournament, the Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony, and other athletic alumni and stewardship events.
