Director of the Hollins Fund
This position is responsible for the development and management of a comprehensive, strategic, and integrated annual giving program to leverage donors in support of institutional goals with a particular focus on increasing both annual unrestricted giving to the university and the base of alumnae/i giving.
The Director of the Hollins Fund will report to the incoming Vice President for Institutional Advancement and supervises the Associate Director of the Hollins Fund. The director is a senior member of the Institutional Advancement team and has regular contact with key campus constituencies including trustees, the President, senior administrators, faculty, staff, current students, alumnae/i, alumnae/i leadership, and parent volunteers. In conjunction with other key leaders and stakeholders, the director builds and manages a program based on best practices and utilizes a data-driven, market-informed approach to annual giving.
The Director of the Hollins Fund manages a variety of programs. These programs include, but are not limited to, direct mail/electronic solicitations, leadership solicitations (1842 Society), reunion and class giving, faculty/staff giving, student giving, parent solicitations, and the volunteers to support these programs. The Hollins Fund current goal is $3.55 million dollars and provides critical budget-relieving support for the institutional operating budget which is comprised of unrestricted and restricted funds. The director strategizes, designs, implements, and evaluates fundraising plans aimed at achieving monetary goals while maximizing alumnae/i participation and volunteer engagement. In addition, they will have a portfolio focusing on leadership gifts of $1,842 or more.
Qualifications
Successful applicants must have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred)
- Minimum of four years of progressive fundraising experience in annual giving programs or other relevant development experience at an educational institution, including a minimum of two years of experience in a leadership/management role
- Demonstrated track record of work in annual giving and working with volunteers, alumnae/i, and campus constituents
- Demonstrated experience with data-driven strategy and decision-making
- Proven ability to meet financial goals and deadlines
- Ability to analyze an annual giving matrix and provide decisions about strategy and ongoing solicitation plans to reach goals
- Ability to mentor and manage staff and volunteers
- Ability to listen to and communicate effectively with a variety of volunteers, donors, and colleagues
- Ability to self-start and self-motivate
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent detail and accuracy skills
- Demonstrated success working with diverse populations
- Ability and willingness to travel occasionally
- Valid United States driver’s license with minimal violations
