Donor Experience Officer/Assistant Director of Leadership Annual Giving

The Donor Experience Officer/Assistant Director of Leadership Annual Giving is a digital-first fundraiser and communicator who works to retain and upgrade loyal and mid-level donors and also acquires new donors from engaged and unengaged donor groups.  Working on the annual giving team, this person will leverage digital communication tools and be adept at expressing gratitude and raising philanthropic dollars.  Additionally, they will serve as the team lead for the university’s giving societies for leadership and loyal donors.

Individual Fundraising: 

  • Actively engage, build relationships, and solicit a portfolio of supporters and prospects.
  • Manage a hand-selected portfolio of approximately 1,000 current and lapsed donors.
  • Execute monthly and quarterly touchpoint cadences (averaging 50+ outbound touchpoints per day) across portfolio to ensure consistent and relevant donor communication.
  • Leverage technology including EverTrue’s cloud platform, social media platforms and video conferencing software tools to build rapport; steward and solicit donors in an alumni centric, targeted, high-velocity manner.
  • Meet and exceed clearly defined activity, donor and revenue retention, and reactivation goals.

Giving Societies and Days of Giving: 

  • Develop and execute a plan to grow membership in and steward members of the Chancellor’s Leadership Society, which recognizes donors of $1,000 or more annually.
  • Develop and execute a plan to grow membership in and steward members of the True Blue Society, which recognizes donors who give two or more years consecutively.
  • Assist the Annual Giving team with all aspects of Days of Giving at UMass Lowell; including but not limited to marketing, campus outreach, on-campus events, the GiveCampus platform, and stewardship to achieve the donor goal.
  • Proactively monitor engagement to identify and launch initiatives that drive donations.

Campus and Partnerships: 

  • Build relationships across the University campus to be in a position to connect donors with relevant individuals when applicable.
  • Be fluent in the “menu” of engagement and philanthropic opportunities across the university (regional alumni events, on campus events, mentorship and volunteer opportunities, crowdfunding campaigns, fundraising priorities) to inform conversations and solicitations.
  • Embrace a “mile-wide and inch-deep” approach to serving as a proactive advisor on resources available to donors across the institution.

Advancement Partnerships: 

  • Aid in outreach and follow up for events and activities on behalf of Development and Alumni Relationships.
  • Develop effective partnerships with co-workers in Advancement by freely sharing appropriate information and providing assistance when needed. Ensure optimum service to all internal and external partners in response to all requests for service and information.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Annual Giving and/or Associate Vice Chancellor.

Minimum Qualifications (Required): 

  • Bachelor’s degree required and three to five years of professional experience in sales, fundraising, marketing or transferable skills
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to make direct person-to-person requests for donations
  • Proficiency with computers, data management, and data analytics

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in a donor and/or customer-facing communications role preferred
  • Experience in higher education is preferred
