Reporting to the Director of Development, the Associate Director will help oversee the day-to-day operations of Far Brook’s fundraising program, with a particular emphasis on growing the annual giving program, The Far Brook Fund, and strengthening donor cultivation and stewardship. This is a broad-based fundraising and project management position with an emphasis on a strategic partnership with the Director of Development.

The primary responsibilities of this position include the strategic planning, organization, and oversight of all annual giving initiatives. The Associate Director will work closely with volunteers, Co-Chairs, and some trustees.

Responsibilities: 

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate The Far Brook Fund, the School’s annual giving program, and continuing to build and preserve the School’s culture of philanthropy.
  • Write and produce all of the annual giving collateral materials and messaging, which includes print and digital appeals, in collaboration with the Development Manager.
  • Work with and manage The Far Brook Fund Co-Chairs and Ambassadors.
  • Conduct research of all prospects including current families, alumni, past parents, and friends for The Far Brook Fund and major gift initiatives.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Development, create and implement a comprehensive Development Office Fundraising, Cultivation, and Stewardship Plan each year.
  • Cultivate and/or steward a portfolio of major gift prospects; develop strategies and approaches to generate higher levels of giving; conduct monthly visits; maintain complete and timely records of contact with prospects and donors.
  • Work closely with the Director of Development on written communications, proposals, presentations, and assignments as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development in strategizing and implementing donor events, including those for the Head of School and Board of Trustees.
  • Research and develop “mini-campaigns” as needed for specific fundraising projects.
  • Working with the Director of Development, manage and motivate the development team.
  • Provide event and other support for the School/development office as needed.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Ten years of experience in development – annual giving, major gifts, and/or campaigns, preferably in an independent school or university setting.
  • An accomplished front-line major gift solicitor.
  • Proficiency with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge, Word, Excel, MailChimp, PowerPoint, and social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.
  • Ability to adapt to new technology as required.
  • Proven management skills and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communications skills required.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
