Senior Associate Director, Class Engagement & Annual Giving
The Senior Associate Director is responsible for enhancing Babson’s relationship with its 42,000+ alumni, through an integrated, class-based engagement and giving strategy. Specifically responsible for serving as the primary liaison between class-based volunteers and the College including responsibility for the recruitment and management of volunteers; creating and implementing a strategy that will build a core group of class-based volunteers in direct support of Advancement participation and engagement goals; working to foster the success of class-based affinities by cultivating meaningful relationships between the College and alumni volunteers; and working with volunteers to develop a holistic class engagement model with an emphasis on reunion milestones.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a reunion and class engagement and giving strategy in collaboration with Director, Classes, Affinity Programs & Annual Giving.
- Develop metrics to set and manage volunteer/class engagement goals; prepare and monitor reports on the progress of volunteer activities and determine whether to alter strategy based on results; and act as a champion for fundraising goals.
- Identify, recruit, and engage a core group of volunteers with a particular focus on reunion years. This position will directly manage undergraduate reunion classes (15th – 50th). Co-manage the 50th Reunion and Half Century programming in partnership with Planned Giving staff.
- Coordinate one all-class Graduate School reunion party and engage a group of graduate alumni volunteers to drive attendance and engagement with the College; coordinate with the Graduate School Leadership Gift Officer.
- Recruit and manage Class Agent volunteers to drive participation efforts among all classes.
- Develop and coordinate off-year engagement strategy by maintaining relationships with volunteers in assigned classes.
- Partner with the major gifts team to develop and implement strategies for major gift/leadership annual fund prospects in Reunion and Class Agent programs.
- Collaborate with the Director, Alumni Strategic Projects & Operations on the coordination of Back to Babson/Reunion programming and work collaboratively with Advancement Communications team to develop marketing communications strategy for Back to Babson/Reunion.
- Create an active social media presence and a robust plan in partnership with the Assistant Director, Advancement Communications to promote class-based programming and reunion/reunion giving as appropriate to each class.
- Maintain a portfolio of volunteers for cultivation and solicitation in support of Advancement’s annual participation goals. Cultivate and solicit alumni via personal outreach as well as social media to encourage philanthropy to Babson.
- Lead Days of Giving fundraising campaign. Direct reunion and class agent volunteers to engage fellow alumni as both donors and ambassadors in support of the College’s philanthropic goals.
- Support Babson’s annual signature fundraising campaigns, including but not limited to Make Your Mark, Barefoot Challenge, and 3-2-1 Countdown.
- Collaborate with Classes, Affinity Programs & Annual Giving team and Stewardship to develop a robust plan to ensure class and affinity-based volunteers are cultivated and stewarded.
- Provide training to volunteers.
- Assume additional responsibilities as required.

Minimum Level of Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree
Position Knowledge/Skills & Abilities Requirements:
- At least 8-10 years of increasingly responsible experience in a related field.
- Ability to understand and implement the strategic initiatives of the College.
- Must have strong interest and skills in volunteerism and ability to translate that to others.
- Must show global competency, genuine interest in cultural explorations, and a willingness to engage in active learning that enhances professional development and competencies.
- Must have strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, and must be able to build relationships with a wide variety of individuals across many different cultures and levels.
- Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office, as well as ability to work with the College’s CRM and volunteer management systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively with governance members, students, faculty, staff, and individuals from different cultures.
- Ability to work independently and juggle multiple priorities.
- Ability to facilitate introductions for Development Officers to new prospects, discovered through research or personal connections as well as to speak to fundraising priorities.
- Ability to envision and propose new methods to perform tasks that support ET&A; take thoughtful risks; and accept new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.
- Ability to anticipate and embrace change; demonstrate willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.
Working Conditions:
- Babson College requires all Babson faculty and staff members authorized to work on our campuses or any other property owned or controlled by the College to verify that they have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19. We have extended our vaccination policy to require a COVID-19 booster shot for all eligible community members as well. Students, faculty and staff must provide booster vaccination information by February 1, 2022 or within 21 days of becoming eligible for a booster (unless granted a medical accommodation or religious exemption). Requests for medical accommodation or religious exemption should be addressed directly to Human Resources.
- Must have had a valid unrestricted U.S. Driver’s License for one year, and maintain throughout employment an insurable (as determined by the College’s insurer’s criteria) or a satisfactory driving record; must successfully complete and pass the College’s vehicle training program within the first 60 days of employment; annual or more frequent review of employee’s driving record based on the College insurer’s criteria; and safety training as required by management.
- Minimal domestic travel may be required.
- Must be able to work some weekends and evenings.
Additional Experience, Skills & Abilities:
- Experience in volunteer relationship management preferred.
