Class Giving Officer
The Class Giving Officer’s primary responsibility is to serve as an internal expert for solicitation, stewardship and cultivation strategies for undergraduate students and newly graduated undergraduate alumni classes. Under the guidance of the Assistant Director, Young Alumni & Student Giving, the incumbent will develop and execute fundraising strategies for newly graduated alumni in collaboration with volunteers and prospect managers, including identification, cultivation, and solicitation. He/she will also work with released and unmanaged young alumni Carrie Tower-level annual prospects toward securing annual unrestricted gifts at the leadership level ($250 – $5,000+). The incumbent will educate all students regarding the importance of philanthropy to Brown University and building a solid foundation for their lifetime giving, and will increase support from students, primarily seniors through the Senior Pledge effort. Other responsibilities include overseeing the planning and execution of Young Alumni & Student Team events.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years related experience (e.g., fundraising, sales, marketing, volunteer management, etc.), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to identify/solicit/cultivate/steward volunteers, donors, and/or prospects with the potential to give $1,000 to $1 million+.
- Strong interpersonal, communications, management, and motivational skills; must be a “self-starter”, with the ability to work independently and also as a member of a collaborative team.
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communications skills; must be able to communicate with a varied University constituency.
- Comfort in dealing with a wide range of University constituencies.
- Proficiency with database, spreadsheet, and word processing applications (Microsoft Word, and Excel preferred), along with demonstrated comfort in dealing with calendar programs and the Internet.
- Some supervisory experience is desirable.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
