Director, Annual Giving
Position Summary:
The Director of Annual Giving manages the annual giving strategies for annual giving efforts for Adams State University. The Director works closely with Development and University-wide units including academic units, athletics, marketing and communications. Directed work with external audiences for annual support appeals includes alumni, parents, donors, friends, faculty and staff.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience of fundraising, marketing or related. Experience with annual giving solicitations, including direct mail, telemarketing and electronic media.
- Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to initiate, collaborate, implement, monitor, evaluate and advance strategic plans that support the activities of the program and contribute to the overall goals and objectives of advancement and the fundraising enterprise.
- Superior interpersonal skills with proven ability to successfully interact and collaborate with varied constituencies in a professional manner, exhibiting excellent written and oral communication skills, team-building skills, and demonstrating tact, poise and diplomacy while working with a wide variety of personalities.
- Demonstrated ability to be donor-centric, collegial, and effective in working with dynamic, diverse groups to include families, students, faculty, alumni, professionals, university leadership and others. Demonstrated knowledge of and relevant ability with culturally diverse communities among potential target and constituent populations.
- Must be a detail-oriented, self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities to meet aggressive timelines and challenging deadlines.
- Working knowledge of electronic mail and calendars, the Windows environment, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access, and other gift software such as Talisma-Donor 2, etc.
- Ability to travel occasionally and attend evening and weekend activities.
- Ability to treat others with respect, civility, and courtesy and to work honestly, effectively, and collegiality with employees, students, and the community. This includes the ability to use appropriate conflict management skills to effectively manage any disagreement that might arise or to bring the disagreement to management for assistance in productive resolution when the situation requires.
- Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a higher education or non-profit setting preferred; direct experience with fundraising, volunteer management and knowledge of Adams State University is highly desired.
Conditions of Employment:
This position is a full-time, exempt at-will administrative position with benefits through June 30, 2022.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary range is $45,000-$55,000 annually plus benefits. Adams State University offers a competitive benefits package.
