Associate Director of Annual Giving, Medical Advancement
Position Summary
The Associate Director reports to the Director of Annual Giving. Primary duties and responsibilities involve directing annual fund and Eliot Society efforts for the School of Medicine, current student outreach and alumni programming, direct mail and other communications, and overseeing donor recognition clubs and annual fund/Eliot Society events for the School of Medicine.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of annual fund prospects. Conduct at least 130 personal visits for the purposes of identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors and prospects. Develop 20-25 new proposals, travel to assigned territories, and work with regional, planned giving, patients and friends gift officers and other staff to increase giving to the School of Medicine.
- Support the School of Medicine by assisting with management of direct mail and other communications, events, and programs aimed at cultivating and stewarding donor relationships and increasing giving. Implement strategies to grow the annual fund.
- With colleagues, implement aspects of the strategic plan relative to alumni engagement and fundraising. Assist with focus groups, salons, reunions, and other special activities specifically designed for medical alumni.
- Develop fundraising efforts for the Programs in Audiology and Communication Sciences, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy. Lead special projects as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least three years of experience in development in higher education.
- Demonstrated ability to design, organize, manage and grow giving programs.
- Superior communication and writing skills.
- Flexibility in a fast-paced and complex organizational environment.
- Strong work ethic with the capacity to work independently and a desire to succeed collaboratively.
- Understanding and appreciation for the professional and ethical standards essential to philanthropy.
- Ability to listen and learn.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to build relations with donors.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Three to five years of experience in development/advancement, preferably in higher education.
Salary Range
$53,900.00 – $92,200.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
