Executive Director of Alumni Relations
Nature of Work
The Executive Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive engagement program designed to provide meaningful opportunities for volunteerism, service, personal and professional development, and events and programs for alumni to enhance loyalty, dedication, and support for UWG. The Executive Director of Alumni Relations oversees the planning, execution, and evaluation of alumni activities in targeted regions across the country and internationally to enhance alumni engagement and cultivate connections. The Executive Director of Alumni Relations will establish a sustainable student alumni association to foster student philanthropy, student engagement, and student-alumni connections. The Executive Director of Alumni Relations develops and maintains cooperative and collaborative relationships and programs with University units, such as Academic Affairs, Admissions, Career Management, Athletics, Student Affairs, etc. The Executive Director of Alumni Relations actively contributes to the production and distribution of communication, including e-newsletters, printed collateral, and social media, directed to alumni. Reporting to the Vice President for University Advancement (VPUA), the Executive Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for strategic goal setting, execution and management of alumni activities. This position will foster and strengthen ties with the University’s nearly 70,000 alumni base worldwide, working to increase engagement and financial support through effective communication, celebration of achievements, fostered engagement, and broad outreach.
This position will supervise and manage employees reporting to this position, ensuring accountability in satisfactory attainment of goals. S/he will manage related budget(s) and funds related to Alumni Relations, as well as serve as the primary liaison to the Alumni Association Board of Directors. As a member of the senior staff in University Advancement, the Executive Director will carry a select portfolio of alumni prospects.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and five years of appropriate experience in higher education or other client centered organizations
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree.
- University of West Georgia alumna/us.
- Experience working in the higher education setting.
- Exceptional experience in fields such as educational advancement, not-for-profit administration, marketing, and/or other client-centered professions.
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge database, contact management and tracking system software.
- Excellent public speaking skills.
- Occasional travel required.
