The Development and Alumni Relations Manager will help manage a comprehensive program for advancing the University’s engagement of its 16,000+ contactable alumni and other friends. He/she will work effectively with Lasell staff at all levels, students, volunteers and vendors to achieve programmatic and fundraising goals. The Development and Alumni Relations Manager will assist in building and executing strategies and opportunities to engage and identify alumni and friends that will enhance the student experience, increase pride and awareness of Lasell University, and grow participation rates and dollars raised for The Lasell Fund and other fundraising priorities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Contributes to a department-wide effort of engaging alumni, students, and friends. Assist in creating programming, and increasing volunteer and donor involvement and financial support of Lasell University.

  • Assist with the planning, coordination, organization, and implementation of all engagement related events including: Family, Friends and Alumni Weekend; Presidential Speaker Series and all regional and campus alumni programs and activities.
  • Serve as undergraduate class co-advisor; develop and meet regularly with undergraduate classes and Class Giving Challenge student volunteers, assisting with fundraising strategies, events, and selecting class gift allocation.
  • Manage all communication and logistics for Giving Tuesday and other fundraising programs.
  • Manage student telefund program. Recruit, train, and manage student callers; develop scripts and protocols in contacting alumni donors.
  • Assist with volunteer management. Serve as DAR contact for the Hold the Torch High campaign and provide support to Lasell’s volunteer boards.
  • Assist with efforts to engage alumni in Admissions, Career Services and networking programs and activities.
  • Work with DAR staff to create affinity, class agent and other giving programs. Identify, recruit, and train alumni leaders. In conjunction with DAR Team, develop peer to peer solicitation systems: training materials, sample asks, volunteer reporting systems, and website enhancements.
  • In conjunction with Communications Director and Alumni Director, maintain and operate social media platforms, including but not limited to Twitter, Instagram, Facebook.
  • Build and manage online registration systems, including iModules, MobileCause, and other registration and fundraising systems.
  • Work to ensure data accuracy and integrity in CMS database, Salesforce. Assist with transferring data from iModules registration and MobileCause fundraising to Salesforce database.
  • Coordinate and manage DAR Leadership team’s meeting schedules, expenses and calendars.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required by the Job:

Minimum Education level:

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
  • Applicants with a bachelor’s degree also need a minimum of one to three or more years of experience working in Alumni Relations or related field.
  • Applicants who do not have a bachelor’s degree need to have a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience.

Computer skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office products required; social network and database management skills highly desirable.

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, to prioritize work and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • The ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects with competing deadlines, while paying close attention to detail.
  • Ability to think critically, strategically, and creatively about the tasks and progress of the Alumni Relations program.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize both quantitative and qualitative information in order to assist in assessing the success of alumni and fundraising programs.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal abilities. Skill in dealing with people, diplomacy, tact, maturity, discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Must have the ability to work well with both internal and external constituencies
  • Candidate must be energetic, highly motivated, flexible and team-oriented with an ability to identify, train, and manage volunteers from a variety of age groups.
  • Strong computer literacy required including familiarity and comfort with spreadsheets and databases.
  • Experience using social media and virtual conferencing tools to develop and sustain the alumni and constituent community.
  • Requires some evening and weekend obligations; occasional travel.
  • Good judgment and a good sense of humor.
