Director, Development (BUS)
General Summary
The Director of Development is responsible for planning, organizing and executing major gift solicitation plans for the DePaul University Driehaus College of Business, as well as other emerging philanthropic priorities of the University, as assigned. The Director’s primary charge is to focus on identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift prospects and donors. In addition to managing a portfolio of high-level prospects for the Business School, the Director will also inform strategy to strengthen support for Business School’s programs and initiatives. The Director is also responsible for meeting specific process targets designed to assure a disciplined approach to building a successful major gift portfolio. This position reports to the Executive Director of Development.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Directs the identification, qualification, solicitation, and stewardship of major gifts prospects/donors of the Driehaus College of Business as well as other philanthropic initiatives of the University.
- Ensures that, over time, these areas have a sufficient number of qualified major gift prospects to achieve established goals.
- In partnership with select senior faculty of the Driehaus College of Business (for example, the Finance department chair) develops annual and long-range major gift solicitation plans that supports the specific unit in alignment with the priorities set by the Dean of the College.
- Advises and assists with initiatives at the request of the Dean and/or the Executive Director of Development – Business; participates, to a reasonable extent, in university-wide activities and initiatives, task forces, and committees.
- Maintain a commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 3 to 5 years of increasing responsibility as a professional fundraiser, focused on cultivating and soliciting major gifts.
