Who You Are

As the Associate Development Director, for the FRCC Foundation, you will be responsible for managing all Annual Fund Campaigns, as well as managing a portfolio of 35 to 75 donors. You will develop and implement strategies related to growing annual giving. You will work closely with the Executive Director to maximize all advancement opportunities to increase philanthropy at FRCC. In this position, you will oversee the integrity of the donor database, including all stewardship. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with the Foundation Board of Directors, business leaders and corporate giving managers, as well as faculty and staff to build increasing levels of involvement and support. In this role, you will be fundamental in creating and implementing strategies to increase fundraising and building our donor pipeline.

In alignment with the FRCC’s Vision 2020, you will be a part of the Foundation’s work, which is key to embracing organization excellence and developing partnership with community partners. It is the Foundation’s role and responsibility to encourage others to invest in FRCC.

Primary Duties: 

Annual Fund Management and Execution:

  • Manage and organize overall Annual Giving campaign including pipelines, prospect tracking, strategy, task assignment, and maintenance of timelines (includes, direct mail, employee giving, etc.);
  • Plan and implement regular communications to donors, and provides relevant local content for use with the organization’s annual giving program, website, annual report, and other publications and collateral materials.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to gain community support for programs and to solicit input for improvement.
  • Work closely with Executive Director, Board of Directors, other foundation staff and appropriate FRCC staff to develop and implement fundraising strategies in order to meet established goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of institutional priorities, academic programs, and centers of excellence in order to translate these assets into compelling funding opportunities and align them with funders’ interests.
  • Facilitate productive relationships between donors and FRCC administrators, faculty and staff to ensure and elevate a culture of philanthropy.
  • Work to ensure timely, accurate completion of proposals, pledges, and fund agreements.

Donor Portfolio/Relationship Management:

  • Manage a portfolio of 30 to 75 donors, with a strategic focus on retaining and increasing the donors’ commitment. This includes all event sponsors for FRCC’s annual golf tournament.
  • Develop cultivation and solicitation strategies for new and previously identified local and national corporate, foundation and individual prospects, working in collaboration with other staff to shape and implement strategies.
  • Successfully solicit and secure mid-level and major gifts from current and new individual donors.
  • Document prospect strategies and contact reports, evaluate new prospects, implement general correspondence to solicit and steward leadership gift prospects and cultivate major gift prospects.

Database Analytics:

  • Work with Donor Data Manager to determine subsequent donor acknowledgements to a specific appeal or fundraising campaign.
  • Work with Donor Data Manager to expand and refine constituent database through prospect identification, research, and strategic cultivation/solicitation.

Required Competencies: 

Critical Thinking: Considers a broad range of internal and external factors when working through the annual fund campaigns and making decisions. Identifies critical, high-payoff strategies and prioritizes Foundation efforts accordingly. Adjusts actions and decisions for focus on critical strategic issues for FRCC. Can review and analyze donor data and make recommendations to grow our donor base.

Development: Maintains knowledge of fundraising techniques, ranging from annual fund development to major gift work. Understands the importance of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Is organized and can develop and work off a detailed fundraising calendar. Seeks and/or understands industry best practices and can implement them within FRCC. Has basic knowledge of targeted fundraising techniques for a number of constituency types, including but not limited to foundations, corporations, and individuals. Adheres to the Donor Bill of Rights.

Required Education/Training & Work Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree Minimum of 2 years of fundraising or equivalency

Preferred Education/Training & Work Experience

Master’s degree Certificate in the principals of fundraising or something similar Basic knowledge dealing with a donor data software (i.e. Raisers Edge, Donor perfect, Salesforce, etc…)
