Assistant Director of Class Giving
Job Description:
Seeking an individual to create and maintain a culture of philanthropy for all classes at Norwich University. Engage non-reunion, reunion, students, and young alumni for an increased connection, understanding, and support of the University’s annual giving and its needs. Duties include event coordination, volunteer management, project management and direct solicitation. Additionally, make connections with constituents to build deeper connections to Norwich University. Primary responsibilities include, student philanthropy council, senior class gift, TAG day, reunion classes, and managing a portfolio of leadership giving prospects.
Essential Functions
- Manage and train members of the Student Philanthropy Council in all aspects of philanthropy and Norwich University related material.
- Work with senior members of the Student Philanthropy Council in order to create a Senior Gift campaign.
- Host events and fundraisers such as TAG Day and Senior Week that increase student’s interaction with Norwich development, philanthropy, and school spirit.
- Encourage the Student Philanthropy Council to assist Development, Alumni Relations, and other campus organizations with tasks that promote Norwich University and philanthropy.
- Manage three reunion classes
- Encourage class giving, including increased participation
- Act as single point of contact for reunion related information for classes
- Manage portfolio of approximately 300 prospects who have capacity to give at the Partridge Society level ($1,000+)
- Coordinate month long celebration of giving in February
- Cultivate increased participation by faculty/staff through outreach
- Recruit, train and oversee Faculty and Staff campaign committee
- Support the class giving team toward $1.2M annual fundraising goal
- Manage partnership with outside vendor and act as on-campus liaison for one annual phonathon
- Responsible for all pledge follow up post-event
- Manage relationship with texting service provider, thru-text
- Implement text message engagement strategy
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience in higher education or non-profit environment preferred.
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar software preferred.

- Ability to work in fast-paced, high volume environment.
- Able to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of MS Office, Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Advanced Excel or database experience helpful.
- Ability to communicate with co-workers and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner; exhibit grace under pressure.
- Ability to relate effectively with all members of a diverse academic community.
