Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement
Southern New Hampshire University is seeking an Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement who will report directly to the Senior Associate Director of Alumni Engagement in the Office of Institutional Advancement. The Assistant Director will maintain close working relationships with all Institutional Advancement and Alumni Engagement staff.
This position is responsible for the planning and implementation of programs and events to encourage participation, foster engagement, and build relationships with the University. These include: developing and supporting activities and events that engage alumni, students, donors, families and friends of the University; assisting with University-wide events and outreach; and performing a variety of complex administrative duties related to alumni, student and family engagement efforts.
Essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:
- Develop and implement community activities, programs, communications and service to promote student and alumni community engagement both on and off campus, to grow new regional connections, homecoming, academic and affinity-based partnerships. Track detailed metrics to measure the impact of affinity programming on the SNHU alumni community
- Collaborate with a diverse group of colleagues to inform the strategy for alumni engagement through social channels and SNHU Alumni web pages as directed by the Director for Advancement Communications as it relates to career development, volunteer opportunities and broader engagement
- Work closely with University representatives to build purposeful alumni and student engagement for professional networking, mentoring, job search and professional development purposes
- Cultivate and strengthen alumni ties to the University through professional interest, identity and/or student experience as part of affinity programming
- Assist with volunteer recruitment/outreach strategy and process, sourcing, tracking, and recognition for alumni/constituent activities and events
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; preferred areas of study/experience in marketing, communications, public relations, hospitality, business, or related field
- 2-4 years of experience with strong community development and event planning responsibilities, preferably in development and/or community engagement
- Excellent customer service orientation
- Highly organized and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with speed and accuracy
- Knowledge of and familiarity with Microsoft Office, multiple social media outlets and web platforms for facilitation of programs, meetings and community engagement is essential. Examples include: Skype, Google Hangout, Adobe Connect, and Zoom
- Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; as well as to work with vendors, volunteers and others
- Must have a valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in higher education, with students and alumni is preferred
Work Conditions:
- Must be able to travel and work nights and weekends
Work Hours:
Monday through Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm; early mornings, nights and weekends as necessary
