Job Summary:

A full-time, year-round position, the Associate Director of The BB&N Fund plays an integral role on the Advancement team, working to support near-term and long-range fundraising and engagement goals. The successful candidate will have experience with the fundamentals of fundraising and parent and alumni/ae engagement, combined with a creative and collaborative spirit. Volunteer management and basic Annual Fund support are the centerpieces of this important work. The successful candidate will demonstrate proven people skills and have an interest in working with a variety of constituencies to grow The BB&N Fund and develop and strengthen individual connections to BB&N. As the incumbent proves proficient in the primary responsibilities of the position, this role offers growth opportunities (e.g., managing a portfolio of annual giving prospects, as well as ownership of various aspects of The BB&N Fund Program).

Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of development/annual giving experience.
  • Willingness to embrace BB&N’s culture and be a visible member of the community.
  • Demonstrated fundraising experience with an understanding of best practices in annual giving.
  • Proven ability to work strategically, thoughtfully, and purposely with volunteers.
  • Customer service-oriented with superb interpersonal skills and proven ability to work effectively with all stakeholders in support of shared goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience managing or working on direct mail solicitations.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and other communications tools/platforms.
  • Proven administrative skills to include ability to organize and prioritize tasks with initiative, and precise attention to detail.
  • Proven resourcefulness in finding appropriate solutions to complex problems (operational and administrative); takes initiative in implementing solutions or making recommendations;
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Database experience, proficient in MS Excel, and Word; and ability to learn new software.

Specific duties will include:

  • Develop and execute all BB&N Fund marketing materials and solicitations (print and electronic); act as a liaison between internal team and external design firm/mail house to ensure accurate, timely production of all pieces and segments.
  • Provide analytical support to determine annual goal setting and appeal segmentation, inform marketing and appeal coordination and produce metric and performance reporting.
  • Facilitate effective communication between The BB&N Fund, Advancement Services, and Major Gift Officers to coordinate appropriate prospect solicitation strategies.
  • Oversee giving days/special challenges, as well as provide support of other activities in order to meet annual fundraising and participation goals.
  • Assist with parent volunteer management efforts by providing all materials needed for peer-to-peer fundraising, reports, etc. o Provide support for volunteer meetings and events by assisting with the preparation and gathering of materials and information, and drafting, editing, and proofreading correspondence.
  • Manage several reunion classes in close collaboration with Alumni/ae Programs, including recruiting of volunteers, overseeing class gift fundraising, and event planning.
  • Build and maintain a portfolio of annual giving prospects with a focus on young alumni/ae leadership.
  • Partner with Communications and Alumni/ae Programs to produce various publications (print and electronic), including the Annual Report, Bulletin (magazine), website, social media posts, and others.
