Marketing and Digital Strategy Manager
Summary
A key member of Alumni & Development’s Communications team, the Marketing and Digital Strategy Manager is responsible for conceptualizing, designing and executing a robust schedule of email, social media, and print communications from end-to-end. Following distribution, they will routinely use analytics to recommend enhancements to programmatic strategies.
More broadly, the Manager will serve as the team’s liaison to the Annual Giving and Alumni Relations departments; they will coordinate social media efforts in conjunction with the School’s Communications Office; manage Alumni & Development’s department-wide communications calendar; serve as back-up to the department’s presence on the School website; and assist with a variety of other special projects to help Alumni & Development most effectively communicate with alumni and parent constituents.

Responsibilities
- Serve as the Development Communications department liaison to the Annual Giving and Alumni Relations programs. Plan and produce a wide variety of materials for print and web, including solicitations, email graphics and copy, brochures, postcards, and event invitations. Work with external vendors to produce said materials as needed.
- Manage Alumni and Development’s department-wide communications calendar. Serve as the chair of the communications distribution committee, which meets weekly. Ensure A&D’s communications strategy is cohesive and timely.
- Serve as point of contact for Alumni & Development email distribution. Write engaging digital content in alignment with the Lawrenceville brand voice. Produce templated emails in adherence of our style guide, generate test emails and upload mailing lists into the email tool, coordinate the timing of emails and follow-ups, conduct A/B testing, and provide analytics as requested to ensure data-driven decision-making.
- Manage Alumni and Development’s social media content. Create a cohesive strategy across platforms and cultivate the posting calendar. Respond to constituent comments in a timely manner. Collaborate with the School Communications Office on School-wide social media strategy as Alumni & Development’s representative.
- Write articles, conduct interviews and manage the Alumni News & Notes section of our School website, featuring alumni profiles and news.
- Provide back-up to the Development Communications Manager related to Alumni & Development’s section(s) of the School website, and is available to provide off-hours support in relation to time-sensitive changes that surface.
- Additional support to the Director of Development Communications as assigned.
- Write alumni obituaries for the School magazine, The Lawrentian.
- Craft correspondence for the Director of Advancement and the Director of Development as requested.
- Attend meetings with internal personnel and external vendors, such as professional photographers and videographers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or related field required.
- 3-5 years’ experience in a nonprofit or educational environment preferred.
- Experience with marketing automation technology, with an emphasis on segmentation to build specific user journeys, preferred.
- An understanding and reverence for the mission of The Lawrenceville School and the wider interests of independent secondary education, specifically boarding schools.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be highly motivated, self-directed, and achievement-oriented.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Keen time-management skills and the ability to multitask.
- The highest standards of performance and ethical behavior to ensure the confidentiality and security of prospect and donor information and materials.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Software.
- Proficiency with social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn, and the ability to leverage platforms to engage with constituents.
- Knowledge of SEO/SEM, Google Analytics (or similar analytical tool) and donor databases preferred.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator, or similar design and layout program(s).
- Ability to work earnestly, respectfully, and cooperatively in a team environment with coworkers and volunteers from diverse backgrounds, and to give and receive feedback on common projects and tasks.
