Description

The Donor Experience Officer (DXO) works as part of a high-performing, donor-centered staff team responsible for assisting the OSU Foundation achieve its leadership annual giving goals. Using a suite of technological tools, the DXO is responsible for developing personal relationships with an assigned portfolio of current and former annual giving donors that result in renewed or increased support to the university. Using email, social media, EverTrue’s cloud platform, video conferencing and phone, the DXO stewards donors, provides information that deepens their understanding and connection to the university, and solicits them for annual gifts. As part of an emerging Digital Advancement Program developed in partnership with EverTrue, the DXO will report to the OSU Foundation’s Assistant Director for Annual Giving Programs, and will work under the guidance of the EverTrue Donor Experience Manager.

Work Location

This position will be based in Corvallis, Oregon and will work out of the OSU Foundation Corvallis office.

Measures of Success

Meet and exceed clearly defined activity, donor and revenue retention, and reactivation goals:

  • 90% Donor Retention Rate
  • 100% Revenue Retention Rate
  • 115 Reactivated Donors at $1,000 or more

Major Duties

  • Manage a portfolio of 1,000 current, lapsed and prospective leadership annual giving donors. Cultivate relationships with these donors via email, phone, social media, video conferencing, texting, and EverTrue’s cloud platform. Perform 50+ outbound touchpoints per day
  • Execute monthly and quarterly touchpoint cadences (averaging 50+ outbound touchpoints per day) across portfolio to ensure consistent and relevant donor communication
  • Demonstrate to donors the impact of their giving. Provide information on university developments and programs relative to their interests. Share upcoming opportunities to attend events, volunteer, participate in alumni association activities/services, or otherwise deepen their engagement with the university
  • Solicit donors to make new gifts, renew or upgrade. Promote philanthropic opportunities, such as university and college giving priorities, crowdfunding projects, Dam Proud Day, alumni association membership
  • Develop and maintain broad knowledge of the university, such as admissions, athletics, colleges, and continuing education. Develop network of contacts throughout the university to access for additional information. Build out resource hub of relevant content to share with donors
  • Collaborate effectively with other members of the Annual Giving, Advancement Communications, and Athletics teams as part of a comprehensive multi-channel marketing program, including direct mail, email, social media and telefund channels
  • Identify and troubleshoot challenges to donors’ on-line giving and engagement experience and work with appropriate colleagues to address
  • Identify and engage with alumni influencers in the digital and social media realms
  • Identify potential major gift prospects and forward these to colleagues, as appropriate
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge:

  • knowledge of Oregon State University colleges, programs, sports, etc. very helpful in fulfilling the duties of this position

Physical Work Requirements

  • Continuous work at a computer with multiple monitors
  • Constant contact with others (face-to-face, by telephone, or otherwise)
  • Exposure to moderate noise, i.e. work colleagues, business office with computers, phones, and printers
  • regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard
  • regular, predictable attendance is required; may require occasional weekend and evening work
  • regular requirement to work under strict deadlines
  • some occasional travel may be required

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and one year of professional experience in direct sales, fundraising or marketing; higher education fundraising experience preferred. Education and experience equivalencies will be considered.
