A key member of the University Advancement leadership team and reporting to the Associate Vice President of University Advancement, the Director of Annual Giving will develop and execute a plan for raising annual philanthropic gifts in support of the university’s mission.  Under the leadership of a dynamic new Vice President of University Advancement, the Director of Annual Giving will be a critical member of the leadership of a new team of professionals being recruited to serve the university.

With the strategic shift to become coeducational in 2017, the successful launch of graduate level degree programs in the Health Sciences in 2014, and a growing cadre of adult, online degree graduates, there is much opportunity to develop new channels for engaging Mary Baldwin University’s diverse alumni stakeholder groups. The Director of Annual Giving will serve as the university’s chief strategist in the development of meaningful advancement outreach to these audiences. The institution is committed to investing in the advancement function and has recently commissioned an Advancement assessment by consulting firm Graham Pelton which will provide a rich body of information from which to begin planning.

Founded in 1842, Mary Baldwin University is a small, coeducational university offering a range of degree programs from bachelor to doctoral. It serves a growing student population on its main campus in Staunton, Virginia; at its nearby health sciences campus in Augusta County; and online. A bachelor’s degree is required for this position. At least five years of progressive experience in building annual fund programs is preferred as is an advanced degree. Competency with Raiser’s Edge database system is desired. All applications must be accompanied by a cover letter and résumé.
