Director of Annual Giving
The University of Mississippi seeks a dynamic and creative Director of Annual Giving (Development Officer IV) in the Office of Development. The director is responsible for the strategic planning, execution and management of a comprehensive annual giving program. The director will develop and coordinate communication and solicitation strategies for acquiring new donors and maintaining existing donor relationships, which may include email, direct mail, phone/mail, personal visitation and volunteer engagement, all focused on a singular goal of creating a sustainable chain of annual support from alumni and friends of the university. The director must have a keen appreciation for the foundation of annual giving as the enabling component of successful major and gift planning programs.
Other specific duties may include helping schools/colleges to set fundraising goals and establish plans for achieving these goals; working with major gifts officers to develop strategies for moving donors to higher giving levels; coordinating annual giving with specialty campaigns; managing the annual giving prospect pool for personal visits and giving outcomes; creating, developing, and executing a highly effective and sustainable volunteer component within annual giving.
Candidates must have a demonstrated track record of supervising and motivating a team of development professionals and volunteers; demonstrated skills and understanding of computer and fundraising software/databases; prior experience in setting and managing budgets for annual giving programs; a proven ability to analyze data and make programmatic adjustments as necessary; the ability to work independently and within a team environment; and a willingness and ability to travel as required.
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and five (5) years experience related to the stated duties.
