Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, the Assistant Director is accountable for ensuring Virginia Tech maximizes the potential of digital marketing within an increasingly segmented, multi-channel engagement strategy. By collaborating with stakeholders and managing resources the incumbent plans and implements annual giving campaign strategies, content, and messaging, including writing and editing direct acquisition pieces for individual donors through outbound print, digital and the Annual Giving’s web presence.

Responsibilities for print and digital materials, including fundraising appeals, stewardship letters and reports, the annual report of contributions, letterhead, pledge cards, envelopes, and other related materials. The assistant director is a team player in developing and implementing fundraising upgrade / upsell strategies and achieving revenue and donor participation goals.

The Annual Giving team is responsible for increasing, diversifying and sustaining annual philanthropic support for Virginia Tech by appealing to key segments of alumni, parents and friends of the University. The assistant director administers Annual Giving database support by building routine & ad hoc segmented college / program reports and formulating charts depicting a range of donor trends. The assistant director has a strong understanding and knowledge of educational fundraising processes and best practices.
