Description:

To identify and encourage philanthropic support for university operations, including academic programs and student scholarships. This will be achieved primarily by managing the student phone outreach center, coordinating crowdfunding projects, and managing content on the website and social networks. This position will also work with the student and young alumni philanthropy initiatives including reunions. This position reports to the Director of Annual Giving.

  • Coordinates and manages an effective phone outreach program; hires, trains and supervises student callers and student managers each semester; maintains effective reporting, pledge recording and data updating; and provides timely follow-up to alumni and parents regarding questions and issues that arise during telephone calls, and matching gift process.
  • Identifies new philanthropic projects via the crowdfunding platform, ScaleFunder. Works with campus groups to plan timeline, goals, and implementation of successful crowdfunding projects.
  • Plans, implements and evaluates an effective student philanthropy program in conjunction with the Bulldogs for Life concept, with the overarching goal of educating the student population giving back over their lifetime. Serves as an advisor to the Order of the Bulldog student society and manages the Senior Gift Campaign.
  • Develops a solicitation plan and supporting materials (print, electronic, etc.) for affinity based solicitations highlighting areas of excellence such as: athletic, academic department, and reunion appeals.
  • Plans and engages young alumni in reunion efforts and philanthropic peer outreach.
  • Manages giving-related content for the Development website, e-newsletters, social media, using i-Modules, ScaleFunder, and Informz platforms.
  • Assists the Director in preparing each year’s Redlands Fund Plan, which articulates the strategy and process for reaching the annual goal as needed.
  • Participates fully in various university and University Advancement activities, such as Homecoming, Alumni Reunion Weekend, development events, etc.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree required, with one year of related experience. Three years’ related experience preferred. The successful candidate will have an understanding of volunteer management, organization and the fundraising process. Experience within a Phonathon setting is preferred. Experience could be acquired through participation in extracurricular college activities, such as student government, student ambassador, etc; must be able to demonstrate superb verbal and written communication skills and maintain confidentiality; able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, and staff; must be imaginative, innovative and have the ability to move gracefully in response to unexpected changes. Valid driver’s license is required. A willingness to work some evenings, weekends and light travel is also required.
