| What makes this unique | This million-dollar event is crucial to our athletic department’s ability to provide resources and scholarship support to our student-athletes. In a time when similar events around the country were either postponed or canceled, SDSU Athletics forged ahead, testing its ability to harness available technology to allow hundreds of locations around the country to join the live program.
Athletics teamed up with the SDSU Foundation to use their social ambassador website to get our fans, staff and student-athletes involved by spreading the word about the auction. They was a huge push by the department to spread the word and I think truly this was a huge part of the event. -We did a large zoom room and had breakout room for those who wanted to purchase a “table” for 2020 JASA. When they purchased a single or table for the event they received a gift bag that included J. Lohr Wine, printed program, local restaurant gift certificate. Image attached. -We changed our logo for the 2020 JASA and used the #2020JASA. I have attached the image. | Outcome | The annual Jackrabbit Athletic Scholarship Auction that adapted to an online-only format and incorporated need-based scholarships and Feeding South Dakota as beneficiaries of an anonymous donor’s 2-to-1 match raised an astounding $1,737,600.
The event raised $207,000 for need-based scholarships and $372,000 for Feeding South Dakota – an amount that will provide 1.1 million meals. The remaining $1.158 million supports student-athlete scholarships. |
