Recruitment Range: $68,000 – $72,000

The Director of Annual Giving provides strategic leadership and management of a comprehensive, integrated annual giving program for UNC Asheville. Responsibilities include achieving the annual giving goals and objectives by planning, managing, and executing the University’s annual giving fundraising initiatives. The Director achieves this by utilizing multi-channel communication methods of social media, email, mail, telephone, and face to face to seek financial gifts from the University’s prospective donors, including alumni, friends, parents, faculty/staff, and students who make gifts below $25,000.

The Director is responsible for creating and implementing a strategic annual plan that will support the needs of the university and the goals of university advancement as it relates to annual giving. The Director will coordinate with Donor Relations to provide stewardship to annual fund/giving donors. The Director will collaborate with partners in university advancement and on-campus partners such as academic departments, as appropriate, to develop and implement communication plans to engage and solicit their specific audiences. The Director will identify, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of donors for leadership annual gifts.

The Director will be responsible for supervising the responsibilities of an Assistant Director of Annual Giving.
 
Required Education/Experience/Skills: 
 
Master’s degree. May also consider a bachelor’s degree and equivalent experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. 3 to 5 years of experience in fundraising with a focus on annual giving.
 
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills: 
  • Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT, Signal Vine, Thank View, and Give Campus.
  • Experience developing and executing automated marketing journeys.
  • Experience with project management software.
  • Experience in a comprehensive campaign in higher education.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Ability to use data analytics to develop strategies and vision of annual giving program.
  • Proven track-records of completing a metric-driven and project-based projects.
  • Demonstrated success in planning and executing successful fundraising campaigns and/or communication projects.
  • Ability to clearly articulate the mission, vision, and values of the University.
  • Knowledge of UNC Asheville’s history, traditions and program.

Work Schedule and Hours: 

Typical office hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but extended afternoon, evening and weekend work is required to be successful in this position. Work on evenings and weekends is required for advancing social media during and after events. Much work is accomplished outside of regular office hours (8am-5pm). Office hours and conditions are adjusted to meet the needs of the position.
