Database Programmer, Advance Program Services

Cambridge, MADATABASE PROGRAMMER, ADVANCE PROGRAM SERVICES, Alumni Association, to provide programming and database support to MIT’s enterprise biographical and gift record system–Advance. Advance comprises Ellucian Advance Web software, an Oracle DBMS, and various reporting systems. Will provide programming and analytical support for the Alumni Association and academic and other departments, labs, and centers; maintain and enhance existing systems and develop new processes and applications for the management advancement team by writing new code or modifying existing queries; and support the Salesforce instances powering such programs as Tech Reunions.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science, information technology, math, or similar discipline; five years of programming experience; in-depth experience with Oracle or other DBMS; proficiency with declarative, procedural, or object-oriented programming languages and paradigms (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL); experience with Crystal Reports, Cognos, or other enterprise reporting software; knowledge of current web technologies and tools (e.g., HTML, XML, CSS); ability to build rapport with users, communicate effectively with non-technical users, understand the business and culture, and translate business requirements into solutions to meet immediate and foresee future needs; ability to administer multiple projects and priorities while meeting changing deadlines, adopt modern technologies, and present information in a clear and cohesive manner; excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills; ability to work successfully within a team-oriented structure; meticulous attention to detail, accuracy, and quality; discretion with confidential information; and fluency with Microsoft Office software.
PREFERRED: project management experience in academic advancement, market research, and/or other relevant area; experience with Ellucian Advance Web, Salesforce, and Tableau; knowledge of data mapping, mining, and visualization; and broad knowledge of the advancement discipline. Job #23256-9

This is a hybrid position with a combination of on-campus and remote work.
