Associate Director, Parent and Family Philanthropy
Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Director of Development for Parent and Family Philanthropy, the Associate Director of Development plays a key role in supporting and achieving the annual and strategic philanthropic parent fundraising goals.
This position, both independently and in collaboration with key parent volunteers, University leadership, faculty, and Development and University Relations (DAUR) staff, will be primarily responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, writing proposals for, soliciting, and stewarding individual parent prospects and donors to fulfill the institutional fundraising priorities of Fordham University.
Frequent travel and/or evening and weekend work is required.
Essential Functions
- Serves as one of the lead fundraising officers for the Parent and Family Philanthropy Team, providing strategic guidance on annual giving and major giving fundraising.
- Manages a personal portfolio of approximately 150 major gift parent and family prospects.
- Devises individual engagement strategies for each prospect in their pool with the goal of soliciting annual gifts and/or multi-year gift commitments at the $5,000 level+, with specific solicitation goals to be determined in an annual goal-setting process.
- Collaborates with academic leadership and other campus partners (Student Affairs, Athletics, etc.) on cultivating and soliciting Parents’ Leadership Council members.
- Identifies additional opportunities to raise the profile of their assigned area with key fundraising constituents to expand the donor pipeline.
- Researches and develops funding proposals/appeal letters as required.
- Exhibits dedication to Fordham University and its mission and the ability to fully articulate it to all.
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, liberal arts, or related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of professional fundraising experience, including demonstrated success raising annual/major gifts by developing and implementing cultivation and solicitation strategies.

- Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal, listening, and written skills to establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, faculty, donors, volunteers, and university officials, emphasizing tact, diplomacy, flexibility, collaboration, professionalism, and discretion.
- Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in fundraising in education, religious, and/or nonprofit organization(s).
- Successful track record fundraising from non-alumni/parent constituencies.
- Familiarity with fundraising databases and tools (CRM Advance, Fundraiser Performance Management, etc.).
- Plus Delta certification.
Starting Salary: $80,000 – $95,000
