Reporting to the Director of Community Fundraising, you’ll support community events and programs aimed at generating philanthropic support for Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford and the child health programs at the Stanford University School of Medicine. Your primary function is to lead the execution of the Foundation’s Packard Patient Community – providing patients and families who are currently receiving or who have formerly received treatment at the Hospital the opportunity to philanthropically support the Hospital and School of Medicine. Additionally, you will maintain a portfolio of Honor/Memorial community fundraisers and offer leadership support to the annual Summer Scamper 5k and kids’ fun run.

The compensation range for this role is $95,000 – $112,000 annually.

Community Fundraising

• Manage a portfolio of community fundraisers, including events and campaigns, partnership events, and honorarium/memorial fundraisers.
• Works closely with the Director of Community Fundraising to develop effective solicitation strategies for high-end fundraisers ($1,000-$100,000).
• The Associate Director is expected to maintain a high degree of sensitivity in their work with bereaved families.
• Provide guidance and support to fundraisers to ensure success for each event or campaign, including application process, logistical support, marketing, etc.
• Steward fundraisers through acknowledgement letters, participant certificates, thank you notes; develop new and unique stewardship opportunities as appropriate.
• Represent the hospital at community events, giving speeches tailored to various audiences when appropriate, coordinate hospital tours and check presentations.
• Work with Foundation field staff to manage dual-assigned fundraisers.
• Work with various Foundation departments to ensure all fundraising events align with the Hospital and Foundation policies and guidelines.

Packard Patient Community

• Develop and implement at Packard Patient Community in partnership with Hospital Care Team Members.
• Initiate program with Foundation’s key fundraising campaign areas – Cancer, NICU, and the Heart Center.
• Oversee intake form for all patients and families to complete upon demonstrating interest in philanthropy.
• Work with patients and families to unlock their philanthropic potential and interests.
• Collaborate with Foundation staff to hand off patients to appropriate Development and Communications staff where appropriate (i.e. Principal and Major Gifts Team, Patient Hero Program).

Summer Scamper

• Assist with overall production and execution of Summer Scamper, as needed.
• Steward racers with regards to fundraising techniques and toolkits.
• Provide guidance and support to Scamper Race Director to optimize fundraising and ensure Scamper is in line with the Foundation’s mission.
• Implement patient focused community area on-site at Summer Scamper to steward patient fundraisers and build community amongst patients, families and care team members.

Collaboration and Teamwork

• Maintain knowledge of hospital programs to effectively communicate with supporters about their area of interest.
• Work cooperatively and strategically with all relevant internal teams to ensure the success of events and to bolster our fundraising efforts.
• Recommend new approaches, procedures, and processes to effect continual improvements in efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of department and services performed.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience working in a non-profit, fundraising environment, managing volunteers, and/or planning and executing fundraising events.
• Strategic planning skills to develop a pipeline building program focused on generating revenue.
• Excellent relationship building skills.
• A demonstrated ability to produce error free work when performing a variety of functions such as typing, text editing, data entry, file management, and calculations is required.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends on occasion, and to travel within the Bay Area.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

• A Masters Degree in Early Child Education with an Emphasis on Children in Hospitals, or a Masters in Social Work.
• Working with medically fragile children and families faced with stressful situations.
• Knowledge of fundraising and online registration database software (Raiser’s Edge and Classy.org).
