The Senior Associate Director develops and implements strategies for increasing alumnae giving with a targeted focus on the classes of the 1960s and 1980s.  They lead Wellesley’s work in creating and implementing acquisition, renewal and retention strategies for this cohort. Using data to inform decisions, they measure the impact of fundraising and volunteer work to grow giving from this alumnae group.

The Senior Associate Director works closely with the office of gift planning in developing strategic messaging and marketing of gift planning opportunities for this alumnae cohort.  A collaborative relationship with the Wellesley College Alumnae Association to create engagement activities and broaden reunion weekend events for post-50th reunion classes is an essential part of this position.

Position Responsibility:

  • Identifies, recruits, trains, and supports The Wellesley Fund class representatives and assistant representatives.

  • Develops and implements strategies for increasing alumnae giving and participation in the classes of the 1960s and 1980s.

  • Creates a comprehensive fundraising plan for the classes of the 1960s which integrates gift planning opportunities within The Wellesley Fund appeals

  • Solicits The Wellesley Fund class representatives, assistant representatives and Durant class chairs for their annual gift to The Wellesley Fund. 

  • Mentors and supervises an Assistant Director of The Wellesley Fund.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Senior Director of Annual Giving Programs, they supervise an Assistant Director of The Wellesley Fund.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree and valid driver’s license.

  • 5 – 7 years of fundraising experience, including successful solicitations, ideally within higher education.

  • 3 – 5 years of volunteer recruitment, training and management.

Skills and Abilities

  • Must be highly organized and detailed oriented.

  • Proven track record of success as a fundraiser.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to analyze annual giving data to inform strategy.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Good judgement and the ability to handle sensitive/confidential information with discretion.

  • Commitment to the mission and goals of Wellesley College

  • An ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment

  • Familiarity with standard fundraising technology, including a high comfort-level using technology to communicate and share information
