Associate Director of Annual Giving

The Associate Director of Development, Direct Marketing, and Donor Engagement is responsible for overseeing the weekly, monthly and annual strategy of USF Digital Engagement Center (DEC). This position oversees the Asst. Director of Development of the DEC and coordinates with them alongside the Annual Giving team to meet department goals. The Associate Director will report to Director/Senior Leadership and work to create the short and long range goals and expectations for the DEC and how it will be incorporated in the overall Annual Giving strategy. This includes coordinating with all Direct Marketing channels (mail, email, texting, video, digital and phone) and department collaborators to meet the goals of the Annual Giving department. Along with providing strategy and support for the DEC and the Asst. Director. The Associate Director is also responsible for the project management of four to six major university mailers throughout the year (usually but not limited to the Fall, CYE, Spring and FYE solicitations). This role provides additional support to Annual Giving campaigns as needed, most specifically USF Giving Week and other major annual campaigns. This position is responsible for helping to provide coverage at the DEC as needed to support the Assistant Director role. As a result some evening and weekend hours may be required. This position is hybrid but the hybrid schedule may change throughout the year as needed to fit coverage needs of the DEC. Additional attendance will be required for purposes of professional development/training meetings, conferences, or volunteer committee meetings that relate to the work of this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and execute strategy for the Digital Engagement Center. Support the Assistant Director in the execution of that strategy by providing training/coaching as needed along with driving day-to-day strategy decisions to meet the end goals. Provide support to the DEC as needed including but not limited to shift support, supervisor mentor ship and caller training. This position will work alongside vendors that support the tools used in the Engagement Center and is the main point of contact for maintaining those relationships and contracts. Responsible for coordinating data needs for the center with both AG and related data teams.

Project manage the execution of at least four major university mailers on an annual basis. Additional solicitations may arise as unique milestones or campaigns arise as part of the fiscal year strategy. This involves coordinating with other Annual Giving team members as well as other departments such as communications and data teams.

Provide additional support to the Annual Giving team as needed throughout the fiscal year based on team portfolio needs. This can include taking on special projects based on availability or needs of the team. This also includes providing support during major campaigns such as Giving Week, Giving Tuesday or special projects.

Establish, coordinate and execute a pledge fulfillment program, including oversight of all initial and subsequent pledge reminders. Effectively handle donor questions and/or concerns by phone, mail or email.

Responsible for keeping up to date with annual giving trends, especially in the area of university digital engagement centers, through research and professional development opportunities. Set goals for long-range planning

Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM: This position requires Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience related to development or other appropriate professional experience.

PREFERRED: Experience in Annual Giving with specific focus on mail solicitations. Experience with call centers. Preferred higher education but open to other types.

SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING: Experience in higher education call centers is preferred with knowledge of either VanillaSoft or CampusEngage being highly valued.
