The Regional Program is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with alumni and friends to raise leadership, major, and principal gifts for the University of Georgia. The Regional Team builds a culture of philanthropy in the University of Georgia’s most mission critical cities and regions across the country while strengthening affinity for the University. Team members provide strategic direction and leadership for UGA alumni, parents, and friends as they make philanthropic and volunteer decisions.

The top fundraisers for the Central Development Office include the Regional Directors of Development. Each team member makes approximately 160 scheduled meetings annually with alumni, friends, and parents of the University. This team is an extension of the development efforts of all 17 schools and colleges in addition to the various academic units and the Athletic Association. Because of this group’s diverse geographical reach, as well as their representation of the entire university, the regional program can maximize a donor’s potential and passion to invest in any area of the University of Georgia

This Associate Regional Director’s assigned territory includes cities and territories in the Northeastern United States. Through frequent travel focused on the New York City area, the Associate Regional Director will conduct in-person meetings to qualify, cultivate, and solicit prospects with a focus on securing leadership annual and major gifts $25,000+ in collaboration with school, college, and units across campus. Prospects include alumni, parents, and corporations.
This incumbent reports to the Regional Director of Development and collaborates with the Office of Business Engagement, UGA Career Center, Alumni Relations, and other University departments on prospect strategy and special initiatives.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Conduct scheduled face-to-face meetings with prospective donors, alumni, and UGA corporate constituents in assigned geographic areas. The purpose of the meetings is to qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward University-wide prospects and donors. Goals are established and agreed upon annually by the Regional Director supervisor and the Associate Regional Director.
  • Responsible building and managing a portfolio of 75-100 prospects to secure gifts of $25,000+ in collaboration with the UGA Career Center, Office of Business Engagement, and schools, colleges, and units across campus.
  • Responsible for achieving all annual fundraising and performance goals and for allocating and prioritizing time and resources to achieve the greatest return on investment.
  • Complete managerial processes critical to travel, scheduled meetings, and fundraising performance.
  • Record all meetings, interactions, and plans in the giving & alumni database (GAIL) in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Regularly complete reports and submit required information needed to track fundraising performance.
  • Create collaborative partnerships with development and alumni colleagues across campus to build effective fundraising strategies and maximize donor potential.
  • When appropriate, partner with colleagues from the 17 schools, colleges and units to secure gifts benefiting their respective areas.
  • Attend division and development staff meetings and scheduled individual strategy meetings.
  • Actively participate in opportunities for professional development to gain new skills, take on new challenges, receive professional mentorship, explore the field of development and alumni relations, and expand knowledge about the University and its mission.
  • Completing special projects and initiatives.
  • Collecting and presenting data.
  • Staffing university-related events.
  • Cultivating and stewarding prospects not originally assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field.  Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Prefer incumbent to reside and conduct business in the northeast with a primary focus across the New York City Metropolitan Area.
  • 3+ years of professional experience related to fundraising, nonprofit management, higher education, sales, marketing, development, business administration, project management, or relationship management. Graduate-level degree may be substituted for experience.
  • Knowledgeable of the University of Georgia.

Physical Demands: 

  • Telework and ideally reside in the New York City area.
  • Conduct business across the northeast region.
  • Travel (by car, air, train, or bus) domestically as needed.
  • Work weekends, evenings, and other non-traditional schedules, as necessary.
  • Sit and work at a computer workstation for an extended amount of time.
  • Work using electronic mail, telephone, face-to-face discussions, paper form correspondence.
  • Communicate effectively in writing, speaking, and listening.
  • Organize and establish priorities; Remember detail; multi-task.
  • Lift and/or move up to 30 pounds of boxes, materials and/or equipment, as necessary.
  • Walk, stand, stoop, lift, kneel, climb, drive.

Additional Schedule Information: 

8:00am-5:00pm; Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends as necessary

Salary Information: 

$90,000-$95,000 commensurate qualifications and experience
