Assistant Director of Affinity Programs and Reunion Giving
The Assistant Director of Affinity Programs and Reunion Giving is primarily responsible for the strategic planning, development, and growth of an affinity based fundraising program and ReUnion giving program. They are responsible for utilizing best practices of volunteer management to expand peer-to-peer fundraising for both affinity and ReUnion giving programs and creating strategies to increase the donor participation rate. The Assistant Director will partner with the Office of Alumni and Parent Engagement (APE) on affinity and ReUnion programming to ensure fundraising strategies are aligned with engagement opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 1-3 years higher education fundraising, alumni relations, and/or equivalent experience in related fields.
- Demonstrated success working with volunteers is required.
- Experience working with reunion giving is preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary.
- Must be able to work with a diverse group of individuals.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Commitment to a liberal arts education and capable of articulating a persuasive, enthusiastic case for support.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule when necessary.
- Identify metrics and set annual goals and objectives for affinity fundraising in partnership with the Director of Annual Giving. Track and evaluate affinity fundraising metrics and report statistics regularly.
- Responsible for executing affinity based fundraising strategies for the Office of Annual Giving. This includes developing a communication/appeal timeline, drafting appeal language, setting up giving forms or campaign pages, and guiding and supporting crowdfunding or other fundraising efforts specific to each affinity group.
- Recruit and manage affinity fundraising volunteers and create volunteer resources as needed.
- Work closely with APE, campus departments, alumni, and students to develop and strengthen affinity groups and to connect and ensure collaboration between alumni affinity groups and on-campus resources. Coordinate and collaborate with APE on affinity communications, events, and programming as needed.
- Coordinate with the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life to recruit and rally Fraternity and Sorority students as advocates for special initiatives and giving days.
- Develop a three year Greek solicitation plan in anticipation of the 200th anniversary of Greek Life at Union College.
- Coordinate with APE and Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life to track Greek alumni engagement, partnering to offer events that coincide with chapter anniversaries. Identify opportunities for alumni volunteers to aid in programming, such as networking events and activities.
- Partner with APE and MGO (Major Gifts Officer) leads to build a comprehensive ReUnion communication, engagement and giving plan.
- Create goals and robust solicitation strategy that engages all ReUnion classes. Develop appeal language, campaign page/giving forms, volunteer resources and other items as needed to achieve goals.
- In coordination with APE ReUnion lead, develop and execute an annual volunteer summit that aims to recruit, educate, and steward ReUnion volunteers, with potential to expand to include other volunteers in future.

- Participate in the development and execution of an annual strategic plan for the Office of Annual Giving.
- Staff events College Relations as needed.
- Contribute to other campus initiatives and key college priorities if and when opportunities arise.
