Tufts University Advancement Department has an opening for an Assistant Director for the Fund for Tufts Medicine. This position reports into the Director for the Fund for Tufts Medicine. The Assistant Director of the Fund for Tufts Medicine (FFTM) plays an integral role in raising more than $2 million annually in restricted and unrestricted support from alumni, parents, and friends of TUSM.

The Assistant Director will:

  • Be a strategic partner to the FFTM Director on all aspects of the annual giving program, with special focus on leadership donors.
  • Work with the Director to develop and implement strategies for obtaining new, increased, and retained leadership gifts as well as influence new efforts for overall donor acquisition and retention.
  • Take the lead on all FFTM acknowledgement and stewardship efforts by ensuring that all annual fund donors are properly acknowledged appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Build a prospect portfolio and be responsible for face-to-face visits to solicit and steward annual fund leadership donors for their generosity and loyal support. This person will maintain relationships with 500+ annual fund leadership donors of $1,000 or more and work to identify donors with major gift potential for capital fundraising initiatives.
  • Interact frequently with university/school colleagues, donors and volunteers and provide customer service for constituencies internal and external to the University through phone, written correspondence, and personal meetings when complaints or requests are made, or employee sees opportunity for contact.
  • Assist with direct marketing, social media, and communication efforts over the course of the fiscal year.
  • Carry out other assignments and projects as requested that enhance the Annual Fund program.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through a bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in philanthropy
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Excellent writing and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Is consistent, dependable, and prompt with administrative responsibilities
  • Tech savvy and comfortable learning new software
  • Proficient in Excel and other reporting/database management tools
