Director of Leadership Annual Giving

Position Description:

Reporting to the Executive Director of Development, the Director of Leadership Annual Giving provides oversight for the McMurry University President’s Council, overseeing communications with leadership annual fund donors (Those giving $1,000-$10,000 annually), working to identify prospects, cultivate leadership gifts to McMurry and providing stewardship of donors in assigned portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement leadership annual giving strategies, working to grow the President’s Council through the renewal and acquisition of leadership annual donors.
  • Identify and solicit Centennial 100 (100 individuals making $10,000 pledges) in Coordination with the Vice-President for Institutional Advancement and Executive Director of Development in
  • In coordination with the Director of Donor Relations, create and implement a stewardship strategy for President’s Council donors.
  • In coordination with the Director of Donor Relations, plan and execute the annual President’s Council reception.
  • Identify and solicit prospects for first-time, renewal, and upgraded leadership annual gifts.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Annual Giving to meet and exceed McMurry Fund’s annual goals.
  • Manage 150–200 person portfolio and ensure accurate record-keeping of activity and donor meetings in the University database.
  • Assist with “All-hands” events planned by the Office of Institutional Advancement (Homecoming, Alumni-Weekend, Women’s Leadership Luncheon, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Two or more years’ experience in Fundraising or industry with transferable skills (outside sales, marketing, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with great attention to detail and professional demeanor
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external constituencies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education development
  • Knowledge of McMurry University or private liberal arts institutions
  • Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM software

Metrics:

  • 25%- Conduct 120-150 personal visits per academic year (in person, via video meeting, or by phone if approved by supervisor.)
  • 25%- make 50-75 leadership annual giving solicitations per academic year
  • 15%- maintain or increase President’s Council Donors retention to 60%-70%
  • 15%- increase the number of President’s Council Donors
  • 10%- support Institutional Advancement priority initiatives
  • 10%- Supervisor discretion
