Position Summary: 

The Digital Fundraising Coordinator reports to the Associate Director of Digital Fundraising and will contribute to the planning and execution of U-M’s digital fundraising efforts with a specific focus on our day of giving, Giving Blueday, and crowdfunding efforts. This role will help to create the crowdfunding and giving days websites, assist in marketing and outreach efforts, benchmark with peer institutions, and work to create new fundraising efforts for the university.

This position requires a hands-on project overseer who is enthusiastic about optimizing evolving technology, with strong attention to detail and process, and demonstrated ability to juggle multiple initiatives. Strong analytical skills are necessary with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and a willingness to adapt to fast-paced organizational change. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong interpersonal, and customer service skills are required.

We also provide fundraising leadership through the stimulation and facilitation of healthy, productive, and life-long relationships with our colleagues, alumni, friends, foundations, and corporations.

University Annual Giving Team Mission: 

Our MISSION is to maintain and build broad-based support for the University of Michigan by maximizing efficiency, coordination, and collaboration between the Office of University Development (OUD), regional campuses, and schools, colleges, and units (s/c/u) to ensure that annual giving programs at U-M are executed comprehensively, consistently, and in accordance with university standards.

Responsibilities: 

70% Digital Fundraising

  • Works with the Digital Fundraising team and campus partners to develop crowdfunding and peer-to-peer campaigns and provide support to ensure the campaigns’ success
  • Supports the implementation of comprehensive digital fundraising plans
  • Authors, when necessary, editorial content for social media, email, and web
  • Seeks opportunities to maximize donor/supporter engagement through crowdfunding efforts, including helping to build and maintain a network of digital volunteers
  • Assists with updating and maintaining our crowdfunding platform and giving day websites
  • Responsible for leading the execution of giving day efforts
  • Contribute to a collaborative, test-and-learn environment to continue to improve digitalfundraising efforts through the conception and implementation of tests
  • Follow established processes for campaign execution, and look to seek areas toimprove/optimize with goal of increasing donor and colleague satisfaction while dncreasing cycle time
  • Send thank you videos to giving day donors (must be comfortable being on camera or secure volunteers who are)

15% Relationship Management

  • Work closely with other professionals across the development community, including gift officers, annual giving staff, stewardship officers, and event planners to achieve program objectives
  • Collaborate with Student Philanthropy team to help student organizations maximize fundraising opportunities

10% Measurement & Reporting

  • Assists with presenting consistent, timely reporting on digital fundraising performance
  • Assists with administrative support for the team, as needed

5% Other Duties as Assigned

 Required Qualifications: 
  • 1+ years experience with online giving days and/or crowdfunding
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • In-depth familiarity with different social media channels and the ability to build effectivetactics and create appropriate content/voice for each digital, social and mobile platform
  • Must be a self-motivated, highly dependable independent worker with the ability toefficiently meet tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated creative thinker
  • Strong visual aesthetic and ability to create online creative assets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong commitment to philanthropy at the University of Michigan
  • A demonstrated record of positive team collaboration with an emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Demonstrated ability to develop good working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Strong organizational, project planning, and time management skills with careful attention to detail
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of digital fundraising tools in support of a multi-channel fundraising program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of digital fundraising or digital marketing experience
  • Experience working in higher education development
